This is my REVIEW of the Netflix DOCUMENTARY 'Crack: Cocaine, Corruption & Conspiracy'. (Sorry for the caps, but YT likes to flag things that have certain words in the title and description :-). Is this documentary informative and educational or is it merely sensational? I break down some of its points in my review. Thanks for watching!

As a black person in their mid 40s, i lived in a small town in nc and dc (chocolate city). Actually, it was EVERYBODYS fault 1. Govt from bringing it here 2. Govt from allowing it here 3. Govt picking and choosing who and when to prosecute 4. Unfair laws 5.non black people buying in black community and leaving 6. Unfair social stigma against black people 7. An entire black community that allow their male children and men sell crack 8. An entire community benefitted from money made 9. An entire rap community that glorified selling it 10 politicians making money and careers clout chasin 11. Greedy people in neighborhoods loving money over fellow man 12. Other races prejudiced against blacks thinking errybody was involved

@Salvatore Salerno untrue...... It happened like they said it happened. Majority of users were and are white. It is an underbelly culture. Partying on white culture also includes illegal drugs. It was done socially. Plz watch born at the 4th of july. Example of caucasian serviceman drug addicts from before 80s. There are many examples of 80s movies showing it. Heroin comes from asian and was an asian drug. They had asian underground clubs in 19th and early 20th century that asian immigrants and whites frequented to get high. Laudum was also big. Coke was also big with caucasians and eventually got outlawed during the modern age. Listen, shrek. We dont play nor pander to race baiters on this channel. No need togo back and forth with u. I have receipts and i dont feed trolls...

The film was a very helpful overview. I was JUST talking to a friend of mine a few weeks ago saying the world needs a documentary explaining how crack infiltrated the black community, and today I stumbled upon this one. It was good, and we need more like it. This American history needs to be common knowledge.

You certainly didn't see police storming Studio 54 and arresting a bunch of rich people. I've read quite a bit about the whole crack vs. cocaine 'thing', along with Iran/Contra, and it is very, very disturbing. I wasn't aware of this documentary, but I'll be looking for it. Thanks, as always. :)

Cuban missile crisis explains the fear of communist governments in South America the lady at the end explaining the difference in how the opium crisis is being treated as health crisis compared to the response to the crack epidemic was the best line in the documentary.

This was a really good documentary, but wish it was longer. I wonder why the governt now isn’t doing anything really to stop the drug trade when the US has one of the highest drug problem of not I think is number one.

One of the worst documentaries I have ever seen. The first half starts off talking about how bad crack was to the black community, then in the second half it backtracks and says the effects were overblown by the media...it basically contradicts itself halfway through. The interview choices were problematic too. The young drug dealers, former addicts and politicians were interesting. But how about interview doctors who treated crack addicts, or cops, or judges, someone from the law enforcement side, etc. Its sad because the topic is so interesting but it was handled so poorly.

I don't think it backtracked. I didn't see them minimize the impact on the black community but pointed out the very late stage intervention of law enforcement and government in ways that did not address the root causes of addiction and drug dealing vs unemployment and underemployment but packed the prisons. They didn't address the privatization of prisons much but that played a role also.
