The original cut of *Rebel Moon* is the director's cut, with the PG-13 version being derived from it. This was announced even before the movie's release last year. Unlike typical scenarios, where the director's cut is created after the original release, *Rebel Moon*'s director's cut is the original, from which the PG-13 version was edited. However, I dislike that they released a PG-13 version instead of the original cut. The PG-13 version spoiled the entire mood and hype, backfiring significantly. I watched the PG-13 version upon its release and have just finished the original cut. The story remains the same (as expected) since it’s not like *Justice League* where two directors made two different movies based on their visions. I thoroughly enjoyed the original cut. It revealed the expansive universe with detailed plots woven into it (it’s not just about sex, blood, and gore, contrary to some opinions). This original cut provides a grand view of the foundational elements. I would love to see more movies set in this universe. This movie is better than *Justice League* in that it is not bloated with unnecessary elements. The music was great and grand. Honestly, the plot of this original cut is far better than the *Guardians of the Galaxy* trilogy combined, and even *Dune*. I am neither a Snyder fanatic nor a critic. I appreciate his artistic perspective and cinematography. I notice many people view his movies with either too much skepticism or optimism, leading to biased judgments. As a movie and story from Zack Snyder, I am pleasantly surprised by *Rebel Moon*'s plot and story. The universe it presents is promising with vast potential for expansion. Here are my ratings for the movie: 1. **Cinematography**: 8/10 2. **Story**: 7/10 3. **Action**: 6/10 (The Nemesis fight with Spiderwoman was a letdown. The Spider had too many eyes but didn't see sneak attacks coming, and it was a bit slow. Also, I disliked the sex scene with Commander Noble; it felt like a sci-fi porn animation cliché.) 4. **Universe**: 10/10 5. **Characters**: 6/10 (There are no iconic characters so far, except that Anthony Hopkins' robot shows some potential.) 6. **Music**: 9/10 7. **Cast**: 9/10

It's like stand up comedy show. For the most part, we want the new comedians to be funny. If they are not funny, it is no joy for us. Zack Snyder does some things well, but, overall, he is not a good director. We all hope the glimpse here or there can last a whole movie, but usually, they do not. Zack said so himself - he wants some cool looking shots, thus, the excessive slow motion. But that is more a cinematographer than a director.

I did watch it on Netflix today, and I loved it. All the story makes sense and you can feel the motivation motivation of each character and the story is more cohesive, coherent and deep than the former Part One. The opening scene was choking, terrible and amazing at same time, you could feel the love, the pain and the injustice at the very beginning, giving space for a better revenge and a revolution because the Imperial Regime is unjust and deadly with no good reason. Well Done Zack. It is far more better than the former one. Some critics just criticize, because they're always comparing with Dune or they have personal preference among the film producers, but let me tell you that you and your team made a good job. Well done

Nah the director's cuts don't change much. Absolutely nothing is added to the character developments of the seven Samurai, aside from Kora and a few extra scenes of her. You can get to see her in the nude though, twice in two movies, very early on so you can ignore the rest of the drivel. But yes, Anthony Botkins has some more scenes but still as ambiguous as ever. There are also scenes of the Rebel Moon world lore. But the characters, still bland. They still sit on a table and talk about their backstory (exposition overload) one by one which you don't get to see in the first 3 hours lol. After 6 hours you will still have no idea why tf Ham Solo betrayed them, unless it's the money then it's the same as the first movie.

1 million percent correct. In today's 4K society, no one wants to see blurry, dull looking, lifeless, joyless, heartless, colorless, slow-motion movies. I loved the directors cut for part 1, Im gonna watch part 2 later today. I loved the first part, felt very Heavy Metal coded and like an 80's fantasy vibe

my main quotation is why ZS just release directors cut fist like better editing to reduce running time why we need watch twice ZS every movie I don't like to waste time to watch original first than 4 to 6 months wait i barley remember rebel moon i don't know when its release worse director choice worse movies just skip the movies easy way

He can't finance the films himself, so he relies on studios for funding. No major studio would greenlight high-budget, often slowly paced, three-hour-long R-rated space epics filled with extremely violent action, despair, nudity, and basically no comedic relief. Studios see that as too big of a risk, even the studios usually happy to waste hundreds of millions of dollars on complete flops, like Netflix. Therefore, for him, the only way to make his vision come true is to make some compromises. He creates versions of these films that tick the boxes studios love: violence is toned down, nudity isn't an issue, and the length is statistically perfect for a streaming movie (because, for some reason, people can binge-watch shows for eight hours straight, but a three-hour movie is just too much!). Suddenly, they believe the project is appealing and worth the investment. What studios never seem to get is that when you cut out one-third of a film to get it down to two hours, you lose everything that makes you care about and be invested in the characters. This ruins the pacing and atmosphere completely, making it all seem shallow and low quality. I think Netflix shot themselves in the foot by not releasing these longer versions first because the enthusiasm for these stories is non-existent. People now associate Rebel Moon with other low-quality Netflix productions forgotten right after release. Of course, I don't know how Zack feels about it all, but I think he understands that the only way for him to actually make the films he wants is to work within the Hollywood system, even if the lesser versions of his films ruin his name and reputation.

Remember that Family Guy joke when Brian was high on aderaal and tried to make a Sci-Fi epic that was stitched from other IP’s then he pitched it to George RR Martin who pointed it out? Yep, that’s Rebel Moon.

Probably Army of the Dead. His movies have a color pallette that is not for me. His Justice League and 300 had some hopes as decent movies, but, overall, not a fan. Too much style over substance. Surprised you gave him a 4 out of 5. So, it is better than the studio cut...
