I'm 43, and Cracker Barrel is my favorite chain restaurant by far. That said, this is the complete wrong direction for Cracker Barrel. Their branding was 100% on target, and extremely well-known. They should spend that $700 million on improving service and food quality. If they paid their workers a wage that incentivized them, Cracker Barrel would see that pretty soon each location would become known as the best restaurant in the area. So long as the current CEO is in charge, and Cracker Barrel goes this direction, I won't be eating there. It's sad to see Cracker Barrel go, but I guess everything runs its course eventually. Good thing granny taught me how to cook, so I can eat good home cooking anytime I want.

I always enjoyed looking at all the antiques hanging on the walls. Some of them had old company names on them and I loved looking them up on my phone to see if they even existed anymore or when they went out of business or changed names. Good history lesson!😀

What has always differentiated Cracker Barrel from other places was the warmth and charm of its decoration. It serves comfort food in a comforting atmosphere. This change completely kills that. They took the warm wood tones away and replaced them with cold grey at every turn. From the floors to the walls to the furniture. It looks soulless and dead. If the goal was to entirely destroy the charm they once had, theyve done a good job.

Years ago, I moved to Georgia and discovered "Po Folks" restaurant. Wooden floors, rustic seating, great food...biscuits as big as I've ever seen, and a menu to die for. Over the years, everything changed. Sadly, biscuits, smaller and smaller, and rock hard. Menu, food, not nearly as good. So, after eating there regularly for 40 years, walked away, never looked back. Very sad. Cracker Barrel, far behind?

The country vibe is the reason that I go to Cracker Barrel. They're slowly easing us into something more modern, and I'm leaning toward the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp. In my world, other restaurants aren't as busy as Craker Barrel is. We stop at different locations on road trips, as well as the ones close to home, and they're always busy. Might have to leave corporate America behind, and start supporting local businesses.

These tables were also slightly larger and since it's now an open concept, it was very hard to hear us talking to one another. Hopefully after this 10 store pilot, they'll realize that this plan maybe isn't going to work and they should re-focus on revamping their customer service training. As someone who very recently quit CB after working there for 14 years, I can tell you that from a business angle, the "old school" money is definitely not enough to keep the business afloat, hence why they're revamping to attract younger patrons. The checkers are gone. 😭 I can rest now that you showed the checker board. I'm assuming the bacon mac and cheese is a new or newer menu item. I can't recall seeing that on the menu. Jennifer's item definitely looks like a new type of dish for Cracker Barrel. I agree that you think of Shepherds Pie during the colder months. Glad to hear that you had good service at this Cracker Barrel. That tends to be an issue at some locations. I definitely have mixed feelings about the new concept. We didn't mention in the video but discussed it on our drive home that the tables were also larger. The older tables were not as crammed as the old ones but they're not as intimate since everyone is further away and the noise levels are much higher with it being an open floor plan. We are with you - we have had some rough (almost non-existent) service at some of the locations we've visited while on the road. We believe that the service is always a slightly better in this area since the corporate headquarters is just up the road in Lebanon, TN. We're happy to see that they've kept some of the old concepts while still updating the stores. Thanks so much for watching and we hope that you guys are having safe travels.

What I've heard is people are not frequenting the cracker barrels like they used to so this is an effort to save the franchise... if it doesnt work the stores will likely go the way of many other old icons... people saying they like the old look and feel should be frequenting them more often and bringing in friends and family... the story i read in the press was since covid, old customers stopped returning and business is bad... I've been to a few in recent years, and my feeling was quality of food was spotty... i ate at a place in ohio that was excellent, another in PA that was so so... but in any case, i would say, anyone wanting the old ones to continue as is need to not only let your voices be heard, frequent the remaining ones more often...

Food quality hit a all time low and everything reflected cheapness! We used to be big carryout customers of theirs but once they went to the plain Jane white foam boxes we were done with that! My only hope is that they have changed their fish and chips back to something eatable. They had gone to cod tails which looks like a lot of food but it is the worse part of the fish and mostly batter!!!! That will be my acid test when I try them again. So far they are on the "Hell No, I won't go list", we will wait for the changes and see if they are somewhat good again. It was also nice to have a place that sold real 100% maple syrup, they wrecked that and I loved their corn muffins which are probably gone forever. Moonpie

Like the old cracker barrel better

I imagine that original antiques have become scarce and pricey. Restaurants survive on food and service. It is hard to be everything for everybody.

If y’all are excited about Cracker Barrel’s new crap that speaks volumes to me about y’all. If the Cracker Barrel in Sevierville lowers its self to this I will not be returning there. This sucks.

@ladyketurahinwaiting Cracker Barrel doesn’t franchise. All stores are corporately owned and headquartered in Lebanon, TN. It is their discretion to which ones will be changed and not the decision of local stores. We’re not big fans of the interior change and there’s no differentiation between CB and any other restaurant now. Their stocks have tanked to $42 a share. We’re not exactly sure how you interpreted that anyone is excited about the changes by watching this video.

It's NOT got that old country store feel anymore!!! It's just like any other restaurant NOW!!!! I'm very saddened by this!! That used to be it's charm!!! Well I guess they wanted to ruin it!!! Sometimes newer isn't always BETTER, i'm with that old saying, if it ain't BROKEN DON'T FIX IT!!!!!!!

I suppose it was time for an update. We ate at a Shoneys in Nashville recently that was completely updated also. Our local Cracker Barrel has fallen on rough times lately and hasn't been very good for about a year. One last thing... even those little memories of something as simple as Mom making cornbread are precious aren't they..

Shoneys! Those are becoming so hard to find nowadays. Did you visit the one near the Grand Ole Opry? We're sorry to hear that your CB has fallen on rough times. It seems like their customer service training program needs to be revamped or something else needed to be improved moreso than the aesthetics of the building, but who knows. You are so right - those memories are definitely special. We hope that y'all have a great weekend.

I grew up with. Cracker Barrel hate to see the old decor go, but with this modern decor, tile floor it will be easier to keep the restaurant cleaner……all the old decor looks nice but very hard to keep clean……I am ok with the new look……we ate there last night…..good home cooked food ❤❤❤

I think they made a mistake by spending money to remodel. Most people liked the old look. They need to focus on reducing the price. $63 is a lot for my families with children. The price of the meals aren't bad but the upcharge for premium sides is too much. Also $3.49 for flavored tea is too much. You already paid for sides, so $3.49 and $2.49 for a salad or Mac n cheese is too much. The new menu items look good but I would pass on the cornbread. You used to get a basket for free with meals. I would just choose to go to Big Bear and pay $14.50 for all you can eat and drink a water. Shrimp, wings, claims, ribs, rice, veggies, noodles, salad, California rolls, Asian chicken, dessert, and more.

We forgot to mention in the video, their croutons are different now too. They were good but you could tell that they weren't made from their sourdough bread. The shrimp was delicious. Thanks so much for watching & commenting. We hope that you have a great weekend.
