Wondering about backcountry camping (aka backpacking) in Glacier National Park? Curious about trying to backcountry camp as a family? Join our climb to Cracker Lake and find out if it's right for you!
I apologize for the crackling sound in the background during our talking. I used a new adaptor for the GoPro and will not use that again. Lesson learned :O

Great video 👍 interesting story, and a close up and personal way to present it. Really enjoyed following you guys on your hike. We had some hikes ourselves but never with beers sneaking around our tents. You’re so cool doing this. We want to see more!!! Best wishes from northern Norway 🇳🇴 c/t

Your family is great and your girls are lucky to experience outdoor activities in this beautiful national parks. I hope many families get inspired by your videos and will spend some time in the mountains. The hiking must have been fun and the fox was so beautiful. The view from the tent and the lake: just breathtaking. I enjoyed watching and look forward to follow your next outdoor activities. And I can feel a desire for mountain activities this weekend :-)

That food storing spot is so interesting, I've never heard of that before. Bears are such cool animals, but the idea of seeing one for real is pretty scary! What a beautiful place though and amazing to do this hike with your family

One Shot Adventures yeah, regular camp sites have bear bins which are locked metal storage boxes but in the backcountry you do it this way. They make you watch a video before heading out all about safety and regulations.

Ouuu yes you are right the lighting is better for these types of conditions :) not too bright, aww theres a fox! 😂 o loving this new travel vlogs - i see some slow mo capture 👍✌️✌️, using the go pro janet? 😀 such a beautiful trekking course up there, but yea a bit foggy haha looks like it waa cold up there - , but ive never done coffee on a tin cup before ! feels like only have ever seen it on movies hehe great vlog 😬

Thanks Nick...we used the GoPro mostly and also the Lumix GH5. Still learning that one and trying to sync white balance between them all :O Any tips??? It always gets cold at night in Glacier. Bundle up! Haha, the tin cup is lightweight and compact. That whole kit fits in the one pot.
@nickandhelmi
@nickandhelmi 5 жыл бұрын
generally you do the white balance in post production with your editing software - i find that the easiest and leaving the camera on white auto balance - generally i like a blueish colour - so between -2000 White balance if you want to do straight off camera, but some people also use the back of a business card to use that as a base settings of white balance. but if at night it gets blueish you can bump the temperature in post - its easier that way.
@RadiantRealty
@RadiantRealty 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nick Effendi! We are practicing using a gray card now, but may have to do post production like you said if it doesn't sync them well enough.

Haha, yeah...her pack weighed half as much as ours b/c we put the lightweight items in it, but she didn't mention that part ;p Yes, you need to have a backcountry camping permit from the park and keep it with you at all times in case a ranger asks to see it. I included all the details and our packing list in the blog link below. I'm kind of with you on the shower and toilet part, but the views almost all to ourselves drew me in :)

Gopro and our Lumix gx7. If you are doing a lot of video recording while moving you'll probably want to invest in a gimbal of some sort. We did not use a gimbal on this trip though because they add a lot of weight.

Ive seen a lot of people put a lot of faith in bear spray. Is it really that effective. I would feel safer with a 50cal along for the walk too.
@RadiantRealty
@RadiantRealty 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Rick, some people carry both. The problem with a gun is that many of the bullets aren't able to penetrate through bear skin/fur easily. You just need to be sure you have the right gun/ammo. I spoke with one employee at Snappy's and he told me what I would need, so I'm sure most stores that sell ammo would know if you asked. :) And yes, when used properly bear spray has proven more effective unless you're an amazing shot. "Hitting a target the size of a baseball, especially when the target’s coming at you at 30 miles an hour and swaying side to side, isn’t easy" says Stephen Herrero, who is among those who have actually accomplished such a feat. ;p www.outsideonline.com/1899301/shoot-or-spray-best-way-stop-charging-bear
