I got 2 for 36 bucks each on cyber Monday and, for me, it's perfect for shopping online, reading(I'm slowly building up my collection of E-books so I can eventually buy a kindle) and watching videos when my phones dead or charging and I'm too lazy to grab my laptop. I completely agree that if you're immersed in the prime ecosystem and have a fire tv to go along with it it's super useful and for $50 you can't go wrong

How do you remove the black ribbon cable located next to the headphone jack? It's the only connector you didn't show. it's funny how it should you removing that board without touching that connector. That particular one goes underneath the screen how do you remove?

Mine was never dropped or wet. Had it 3months in and was fully charged and it wont light up the screen and itg wont restart using the power button or anything. How can i get the screen to appear n restart?

Technique 1 Press and hold the power button for a full 30 seconds or more Technique 2 Remove the back cover and lay a butter knife across both terminals of the battery, while unplugged of course.

I got one and put google play on it and just use android apps since this is a forked version of android tablet after all :)

That's what I did with mine a couple of months ago. Works very well. Wish I could add more RAM for a faster experience. Other than that, this is a pretty decent $30 tablet.

I'm disappointed with mine. I had hoped it would be a bit of an upgrade from my 2012 Fire, and although it is snappier doing more general tasks, it's actually incompatible with several games I'm able to play on my 2012 unit. :-(

Can you download BBC iplayer TV and radio to specifically listen and watch online. I have an ipad but a little bulky to carry around at times so looking for a portable device specifically stick in my pocket, headphones in and listen or watch on my long commute. I know with some smaller devices like iPod touch this did not used to be available so needed a wifi connection. I have a wifi connection here but when travelling I will not hence why it has to be playable offline. Will the Fire 7 inch do this?

It won't play all Amazon fire apps and no Android apps outside of the Amazon site. I guess I have to buy a second non-Amazon pad to get either apple or android apps.

+Hkuba I thought part of the reason the android apps weren't offered in Amazon is because it wasn't cleared as being safe to have. A lot of them have malware in them.

+525Lines Not true most android apps in the Play Store are safe to use and have no malware on them as they are checked by Google before they are published into the store. Not sure where you got that info from.
