Years ago, we used to mix up solvable oil and water and run that through our outboards, leaving an oil film on the internals IT seemed to work well I had a Crysler 30 hp for 7 years and an Evinrude 25 for 20 years without a problem the rude actually wore out with use
@OBM17705 күн бұрын
Thanks for the tip! We’ll definitely keep that in mind! 🙏 Those older Evinrude outboards were bullet proof. The older brother had a 15hp which had been fully submerged in salt water for a tide and still got over 20 years out of her. Thanks for watching mate & the feedback! 👌🍻

Awesome video guys. Ya should invest in a release weight. Make's releasing deep fish easier. Or use a heavy sinker with a reverse barbless hook cable tied the top of the sinker upside down. And heavy fishing line on a hand line reel.
@OBM1770Күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! You think they would be heavy enough for a big cod like this one?
@bennybfishn18 сағат бұрын
@@OBM1770 yeah some Weights you can get are 1-2kgs. You just hook through the bottom jaw and drop the fish and weight to the bottom and then give the cord/heavy fishing line some good hard tugs and pulls the hook out of the fishes mouth. I've made my own with a deep dropping 2kg sinker i made and some heavy duty wire. Like coat hanger thickness just bent into a hook.

Might be worth checking the wheels spin freely mate, I jacked my trailer up to do a bearing check a coupe of weeks ago after I heard a slight grinding noise going through a tunnel on the way to the ramp.. the bearings were fine but brakes were that sticky I couldn't even get 3 revolution spinning the wheels.

@@granthay9046 boat brand new full over water and fuel was 3.4 on the trailer. I haven’t weighed the van but I had it rated to 4.2 because of the amount of heavy gear we put in it. Need to have it weighed!

FYI, guys. Even if the fish swims back down after you puncture the swim bladder, it's not going to survive. They use their swim bladder to regulate buoyancy. So once you rupture it, they will just swim back to the bottom, lay there, and die. Because they can't reinflate it to swim upright.
@OBM17706 күн бұрын
Thanks, mate! We still believe that giving undersized or bycatch fish a fighting chance by sending them back swimming upright and strong is better than leaving them with no chance at the surface. I do understand your point, and you’re right-there’s definitely a lot of debate around the survivability of this method. We’ll keep doing our best to handle every release responsibly and appreciate your input! Thanks for watching and again your feedback is greatly appreciated!
