When tying with craft fur, don't discard the underfur, it makes an excellent dubbing material.

Waste not, want not! :) A lot of the materials that we discard for one pattern any actually useful in others. The fluffy fibers at the base of feathers makes great dubbing (as a noodle or spun in a loop) as well. Cheers!

The underfur of deer hair also makes a great dubbing. It's a bit of a pain to collect, as it's harder to get the underfur out when you haven't already clipped some off for a fly, but a clump for a deer hair caddis produces enough for a small fly that doesn't need copious amounts of dubbing. You can get a small amount of the edges when you first buy it as well.
