Good morning Mrs Gayle. To tell you why this cosmetology make has been so cool for me is my great uncle had the cosmetology school and five beauty shops in a town in Texas my great grandmother was the oldest woman in the state of Texas to get her cosmetology license. Every year at the family reunion. My uncle would set up shop and cut hair. He always made you feel like he had come just for you. It was the 60’s 70’s . A special time. Thank you for the memories and the journal is just awesome!

Funny: Yesterday I tried your idea of putting a project under the mat to flatten it. Later in the day I returned to my craft room looking for my project-then all over the house going "what did I do with my project???" Finally I started decluttering around the mat and remembered where it was!!! New rule in the craft room--I must not hide stuff from myself (old brain syndrome!!!) 😅

I’ve done that. I was all over my craft room, I knew I had made whatever it was. I don’t even remember now. Couldn’t find it anywhere then finally found it under my mat so now every time I stick something under my mat, I put something on that corner, my tape dispenser, my stapler, or anything, not necessarily anything to weight it down but just so that I know there’s something under there.

Good Morning, Gayle. It’s 5 am and I am up watching. I have to tell you I had a dream last night that I made a cloth journal cover for the first time (I am a scrapbooker, mini album and card maker, haven’t attempted a junk journal) Anyway, you were like next door and I popped over to show you what I had made. I told you I have been watching you for a year and a half but never made a journal. You looked at me surprised and asked me “Why do you watch then” I told you because I just enjoy watching you, hearing about your life and you start my day on a good note. I thought the “real” Gayle should know.

This journal has been a wonderful trip down memory lane. The 'do' on the cover is the one I got on my very first trip to the beauty salon. I was around 8 years old! I had the game Mystery Date also. And, I was reminded of the teenage girl who lived next to my best friend who set her hair in Welch's grape juice cans! I was also born in 1956, so you know what kinds of things went through my mind. My best friend from jr. high and high school lives in Belize now. I think I need to give her a call. Thanks!! 💞💞💞

This journal just keep getting better and better! ❤ I remember my mom using clippies like that. They were the best. I had paper dolls in the 60’s and their clothes were like so many of the dresses in this kit. Wish I still had them. They were 12” tall and the clothes laced onto the dolls. There were 8 of them, oh the hours and hours I played fashion show with them! 🥰 Have a Blessed day!

Great project Gayle! Could have used this book back when! A day off from school I decided it was a great idea to curl my very long, very straight hair. Not realizing that there was a big difference in hair curlers I had used perm curlers, had to go to school the next day with the biggest Afro you had ever seen. lol, took days to get it under control again. Gayle, this journal and all the fun things from Joey's kit bring back memories of my great grandmother when she was younger, not necessarily the same time period, but I remember as a young girl spending a few Summers with her, and she would take me to the salon to watch the hairdresser do her hair. It was always the same cut, the same color but when she got done, I always thought she looked like a Queen. I only got to do this twice with her, but the memories I will never forget the impression that left on me as a young girl. ❤ This journal has been so very much fun! It's hard to see it come to end. Speaking of memories...i went to medical secretarial school and loved shorthand. Never used it because the drs i worked for used dictation. Which i loved also. Man i don't think i could read it now. I wish i was able to use it...i studied hard for shorthand😊 i loved the story about the jeans❤

Hello Gayle, I am loving the way this journal turned out, brings back a lot of memories. What you are doing for girlfriend is hilarious, all the good stories just like we are together in one room, big hugs, to the moon and back. :) I remember my mother going to hairdressers and siting under those cone head dryers and the hair stray made the hair last for a week, my mother had a bee in her hair once, we laughed so hard. The hairspray was like crazy glue, lol, what joys we had.

Good morning Gayle💕 I love vintage clothing and it Florida they have a lot of shops that carry these items. I remember wearing bell bottom pants not sure if it was a thing back then or I liked then. Hope everything went okay with your doctors, I have all my physical appointments next month not looking forward to that. Hubby and I installed a exhaust fan in the bathroom last weekend and it was not fun. This is an old farm house so everything is a challenge and we are not spring chickens anymore. 😂 Enjoy your day, big hugs! 🤗

I agree with all the memories this journal brought back. While 70's were more my decade, my aunt was a hairdresser in 60's and my very mod older cousins gave me many 60's memories. Enjoyed watching this journal coming along. Good luck with colonoscopy. Wonderful living in age of early detection means. Wasn't due for mine yet, but some issues suggested a colonoscopy and endoscopy at same time. Found precancerous polyps (never had any prior and that cancer doesn't run in our families) and a new digestive challenge. But, nothing I can't live with and moving forward to next old age maintenance check! Hugs, Gayle.

Oh man, how I’ve enjoyed this project!!! And I see I’m not the only one, and this has made me realize I’m not the only “mature” lady in this group. And yup, I did stenography, but I was also a telex operator. I’ve yet to meet anyone who knows what that is these days. I used to hate the daily morning reports going to London; the paper strips with the little holes in them got so long for those reports, they could be difficult to control. I can’t claim to have been able to read those strips, but I did get to where I was able to recognize certain letters and words, or a space, so that I could easily stop the strip and move it to the next word or letter in order to correct an error or add a word or sentence (by manually typing it, which in turn created more holes), then start sending the strip through again.

Oh my goodness I remember those ‘clippies’! I used to make curls in my wet hair and kept them in with those clippies. When us girls had LONG hair my Dad would wash and put foam clip rollers in our hair. He did it cause my Mom was a registered nurse and worked nights at the hospital. Oh the days and the pictures I have of me and my sis in our foam rollers!! Haha!! ❤

Good morning, Gayle! I'm 73 and I remember Cosmetology I was entered into a cosmo contest! My hair was cut short and bleached seven different shades of blond! There were certain rules but I ended up disqualified! I had looked over at a classmate, also in the contest and one of her fake eyelashes had become unglued and was sitting on her cheek! I cracked up laughing! Couldn't help myself!

Very nicely done. You have totally captured the era. I graduated in ‘63 and this brings back so many memories of college. I really liked the process you used in making this journal by using some premade ephemera, but also a lot of custom made ephemera for the journal. Good morning my dear friend, it’s a beautiful bright sunny day here, so lovely to have spring weather. I have enjoyed this video more than you know. You make the best videos. You have a way of making a sunny day even brighter. Do you remember Twiggy, well that was my nickname in high school as I was tall and very skinny and had my haircut like hers but I have to tell you that I no longer look like that. Old age has not been good to me. I look in the mirror and I don’t recognize the person looking back at me. It’s an old lady with a number of pounds on her body. Crazy, 🤪 I know. Oh, if we could go back in time, would we do anything different? Didn’t you love the music 🎶 and the clothes we wore. How did we get from being beautiful funky girls to being old ladies. Morning Cindy! Yep, I hear ya! Look in the mirror and see my mom looking back at me. We are lucky though to have reached the wise woman stage. I’m a lot better about self acceptance at this age than I was when I was younger. 😊❤
