I would buy a 400$ version with a basic stand and no soundbar. No matter how good the soundbar or the stand get, it won't ever get close to proper speakers and a monitor arm.

I'm guessing the soundbar is really just a cover-up for a giant bezel, they couldn't make it thinner without the speakers.

Interesting you say that, now I notice the top and sides have a bezel flush with the screen, but the bottom of the screen terminates at the plastic.

For the price it's not bad, but it would compete so much better if the soundbar was removed to lower the price further, or improved to acceptable levels and the price raised a little to compensate. Nice to see smaller companies doing well! Just gotta work on the marketing honesty and quality of secondary components like the soundbar.

Just toss the sound bar, and the wireless charger while they’re at it! And hey if a price decrease doesn’t come of that I don’t care, they’re doing great work and deserve to keep the 50c they saved anyway!

Do you know by any chance if this one is similar to Acer X34 V3? Looks like the latter, and also has VA panel with 2304 dimming zones. I am looking forward to it because my productivity work would definitely result in burn in and I would like some HDR for my gaming as the space for screen is quite limited (no chance for two monitors). Not many choices since there's Phillips Evnia and Lenovo both UWQHD but Evnia is the smearing one and there is still only few revievs of Y34wz-30 present (some customer reviews in my country adress poor KVM management and only 384 zones). I thought couple years ago that minileds would be affordable passage between lcd and oled. Sholudn't they be by now 😂?

That BenQ you mention with built in soundbar, it erases many sounds because it's artificially enhanced terrible speakers. I had it and I returned it after sound testing it, you can have speakers that sound cheap in comparison that manage to capture sounds better without making some tones completely vanish.

I see this has a sRGB clamp, by chance, do you know if the monitor is 99% sSRGB in Standard Color setting where gamma is changeable outside of sRGB color setting?
@paulbrooks43955 ай бұрын
Hmm, I value color accuracy for HDR and role playing games, especially now that RTX HDR is common. For games like Cyberpunk, color sets the mood when it's good, really turning up the immersion factor. I am not very sensitive to ghosting, but I am sensitive to screen sync, flicker, and tearing, which is something I have found that isn't always compatible with Nvidia GPUs and FreeSync. Having recently switched to a calibrated high color accuracy laptop with Gsync, I can say that I honestly prefer the image quality it puts out over even desktop screens. It's just that much better. However, I rate very highly in color accuracy tests and also have 20/15 vision, so I notice all those details in ways that other people won't.
@blahorgaslisk77635 ай бұрын
Oh I understand your problems a lot. At a former job I was designing the adverts we were sending to papers. The first time was a horrible experience. I had no idea my monitor at work was that bad at colors. I ended up using pantone colors so I knew what they were going to look like in print. Personally I'm quite sensitive to tearing, so FreeSync and G-Sync has helped a lot. Funnily enough I'm not particularly sensitive to refresh rates so really high refresh isn't important for me. As for light level... Well I have very rarely felt the need for more than 20% of the light level. Actually I kind of hate really bright monitors. They hurt to watch. Kind of strange that I always use light mode. A white background and black letters is what I like.

Do you use ClickMonitorDDC or similar to avoid the monitor's built in menu? Also 27"-32" OLED is getting to around the same price. I think anyone would go for the OLED. Also pro gamers like a 24" screen?

Yeah they fudged the facts quite a lot about this monitor. Hdr is not what it says it is and color production is a struggle for it. Most of them have a high pitch whine to them...power issue likely. It's also 100hz and not 165hz as its hdmi 2.0 not 2.1 Its got major blooming issues which is painful clear if a computer in sleep mode. It's not not vesa verified hdr1000 even though they claim it is and as mentioned it can't meet the requirements for it. The biggest reason to stay away from it is they purposely fudged the facts with intention to mislead. This should be a hard pass for anyone and i would guess these monitors are already showing high failure rates.
@fwiler5 ай бұрын
Display port does 165hz. I haven't seen a monitor do hdr correctly yet. Color production is better than a lot of monitors. Most people wouldn't notice p3 at 90% let alone know how to even color grade a video. Or even switch to the correct color space and instead just leave it at srgb because that's how everyone else will view it. Haven't seen blooming issues so can't comment on that.
@magnus33john5 ай бұрын
@@fwiler Like most of the info there fudging the facts. The actually speed for the display port is 144hs although the difference between the two is negligible for the user Color production for monitors of that price point is no great although you can find worse. Adobe is frankly a joke and its just not capable of get close to in range. Messing with the color space would not change this. The hdr 1000 is a outright lie with this thing only reach hdr 400 constantly atlough given its color reproduction issue with hdr they likely couldn't get certification for that either. Its not the worse monitor but it tried doing too many things and ended up doing most of then bad. For gaming though it would likely be good due to the brightness and the mini led making ghosting minimal. The reliability and report high pitched whine for many may make this a issue though. The biggest problem is they outright lied about specs, not fudged some number like many do but outright lied. That's always a bad sign

If it's a mini LED, how does the backlight array performance work in gaming scenarios? I mean that's kind of like.. a large point of getting mini LED, and thus far it seems that has been a feature that is somewhat lacking in the computer monitor space.. also, is the HDR 10, thousand nit claim just completely false? Or is there like a way that it could possibly achieve that with compromises? Just kind of a thing where it's like if they're going to lie like that straight up, that's not a good sign, like at the very least you know qualifying lie.. otherwise it's like, what else are they lying about?

Speakers that can fit on your desk, are not worthy speakers, even less so should they be replaceable by OEM built-in nonsense... But should you have to suffer through The bookshelf size of shame, simply find a local thrift store, probably not a goodwill, any other, simply test the satellite speakers of a boombox, test them all, bring speaker wire, bring RCA, bring adapters, find the ones that still sing.. I've had good results with competent mid and tweets, when paired with a much cheaper base focused matching, using either dual receivers if they are only 5.1, matching it with a stereo or another 5.1 of quality.. then manually configuring the crossover to sound appropriate. This is the way, until the better way when The shame will be atomized by speakers that stand as tall as the desk, and the crossover, the soundstage has been perfected,

Oleds have burn-in issues and they're expensive, but beat everything in colour, contrast and speed... but they hod power. And when you pay your own bills, that's a no no. TN and MVA etc. panels have always been lack luster to me for productivity :/ And what it's worth.. screen's a screen, not a hi-fi station.
