Thank you to the commenters who pointed out the bobbin is loaded in the video backwards: ➡➡The bobbin thread should lead off CLOCK WISE, not COUNTER CLOCK WISE. ⬅⬅ Putting it in counter clock wise may lead to tension problems, etc!

I purchased this machine in my 20’s over 45 years ago. It’s been my goto all this time and it never failed me. It’s tough and reliable so if you ever find one, get it. I kinda abused it with all my tough projects from leather to layers of jeans. Very portable too. I know this machine inside and out.

I have this machine. I got it from the NAAFI in 1977 whilst serving in the Army in Germany. I remember the machine being very expensive. It came with 3 little booklets (which I still have) taking you through everything that the machine does. It was a little miracle of a machine and still is to this day.

Hi Pauline what an amazing story. What price was it? What were the booklets that it came with? I just rescued one last month cleaning the hard case all the marks seem to be disappearing.

It’s the sewing machine repair guy. Re the bobbin case the rule is if it’s a top bobbin it goes like a p, if it’s a front winder bobbin it’s like a g. Mrcompot2 had a top loader which is different to the tipmatic 1027. It was hearing about the p and the g that helped me as my brain gets confused about counter clockwise….p and g is easier to remember good luck everyone

Pfaff homepage says this machine was sold up to 1980. As it says "Made in West Germany" it has to be made before 1989, because 1989 we got reunites with East Germany. So now our products are labeled "Made in Germany" ..without East or west. The price was around 1069 Deutsche Mark which in the eighties was about 700 US $

Hi again, I've put some thank you $ for your effort just now. I used your tutorial to wind the bobbin using the horizontal method (the first method). I usually wind the bobbin with the vertical method (#2 method), but that was with my mother in law's machine in Europe. Now I've just bought myself a new (old) Tipmatic 1027 (with a price much higher than yours, but still lower than a new entry level), but the machine doesn't come with the extra stick for the vertical spool holder. Good thing my machine came with the spool stopper (I didn't know what it was until I saw your tutorial), thus I could do method 1 winding. Your tutorial even made me aware that the machine was in the "lower feed dog" mode, thus I didn't wonder for a long time why my machine didn't sew. Thank you sooo much! You've been very helpful!

Thank you so much! I bought a Tipmatic 1027 from a gentleman that his wife had passed away. He didn't have the instruction manual. All he could tell me is that his wife cherished the machine. I absolutely love it and thank you for taking the time make this video.

Thank you so much for this! I have this machine, that I also bought at a second-hand store for about $14.00. Got it tuned and everything for another $100.00 but then never used it for two years. Now I'm in lockdown and pulled out the machine, and really love how well it is made. I can't believe it's almost as old as I am, and still so strong. I'm really excited to learn some things. Thank you so much, your video was great.

Thank you for this demonstration! My mother in law in the Netherlands has this sewing machine and I used it this past holiday season to make a men's shirt, a blouse and a dress. It worked wonders! I was hesitant at first because it looked old (it IS old!), but it is actually a very amazing machine! I do wish I had found your video sooner... it would have saved me the headache of figuring things out. I did find the manual online in English (I thought they would only have it in German or Dutch), so I was able to understand how it worked, eventually. Btw, the guy who did the maintenance on my mother in law's Tipmatic said that she should never sell this machine, or buy a new one, because they don't make it this well anymore. I think I agree...

Eureka! If you fiddle with the little tiny screw in the lower bobbin casing….. that spins like a Minnie clock - I turned it counterclockwise with my fingernail to fix the stitch!!! A very scary thing to do, because if you irritate that little bobbin casing at times, it can really get you back! Love from Georgia in BC

So wonderful - thank you from Georgia in B.C. I have had my machine 36 years and have started sewing in my retirement but HELP, the tension is all wrong. A year or so ago I did a maintenance service and since then the stitches are too loose on the top, I have jiggled and wiggled and played with it - could you provide a video about the tension adjustments for this machine….. I am also using up my old thread - do you think that is part of the problem. I have also bought new thread and nothing changed. Tight stitches underneath the fabric and too loose and my sewing puckers when I start and almost gathers the fabric - HELP, thx. If anyone else reads this and has a PFAFF, please help :). It would be appreciated

Definitely get new thread, new needle then triple check you are threading it correctly. I watched a sewing machine repair you tube but can’t think of his name. He was very good and thorough in explaining tension. Will try and find his name but he mentioned doing what I have told you first.

You installed bobbin thread counter clock wise different than other people like HeirloomCreations and MrCompot2, their both video installed Pfaff front-load bobbin clock wise and your counter clock wise, just wonder your correct way or their?

This machine and the 1047 cost 300$ used in Denmark, not 20$, and it sells out quite fast each time one is for sale. You can not get it for 20$ here. That is quite impossible. These Tipmatic are mechanical and so can be repaired easily.
@CraftcoreDIY

I bought it that the thrift store so I feel like I just got very lucky! Most donated machines, regardless of quality, tend to be in the $20-40 range at my local thrifts here in Ontario, Canada. I think mostly because the staff are not necessarily knowledgeable about the machines. 😊 Usually just stuffed on the shelf alongside VHS players and other tech.
@Sigridovski

@@CraftcoreDIY Incredible! They could get 150 or 200 $ easily for that one. It is supposed to be cheap in thrift stores; or why bother to go and search? Everyone can get a good bargain once in a while and be happy and the thrift store will get more customers when they make these ''mistakes''.
