So wonderful to see more about the Saar artist dynasty! The sculptures are some of the most powerful I’ve ever seen. ❤️

I used to make my art, exhibit it and sell. Then my life got turned upside down and I'm left with tonnes of components I used to gather for my art pieces and now, I'm unsure what to do with them. It's hard to keep them and even harder to give them away. Watching this makes me happy and sad.

Truly appreciate the creative output of the Sarr family. I do have to say however that Alison Sarr is disrespecting Black people to call herself black. She has black ancestors, her mother is part black, not sure about her mother Betty’s parentage, but appearances matter. If you are a black west African artist watching this as I am, it’s shocking to see a white woman claim to be black. That’s just so obviously dishonest with a wink. She does not pass my children’s eye test. I just showed this to my 11 year old, paused on Alison, explained the family and asked the kid? Shes white Dad, came the response.

She is who she is herself not according to you. How would you like someone to question your ancestry?
