That’s a really cool ring. I will have a question. How did you get that pattern into the stainless?
@SpoodinOot2 жыл бұрын
I know this is soooo late but Damascus is a technique of layering multiple types of steel together. One type is softer than the others and gets eaten by acid quicker... So when you twist the two steels into bar form then acid etch them you get the pattern

I etched my ring then tired to polish it now you cant see the pattern. Does that mean i need a deeper etch?
@TheBarefootForge3 жыл бұрын
That's going to depend on what composition the damascus steel you're using is made of. Our material blend is engineered for bold contrast and deep etches- but most of what's on the market.... is not. What type of acid are you using and what's the material composition of the damascus you're using? What did the supplier of the material you purchased say about their specific etching instructions?
@rampage83853 жыл бұрын
@@TheBarefootForge I didn't buy it. my co worker did was making the ring for his son. I was using 25% sulfuric acid.
