Full range driver! Magical clarity and midrange! I bet vocals are better than the majority of commercial speakers. Good job!

They look downright beautiful! I’m with another commenter - it would be super useful if you could share your thoughts on the various drivers you use, one vs the other and what type of enclosure you think suits each one best. Unless, of course, it’s a trade secret…

Thanks for not only taking but actually showing the dimensional measurements. While Dayton Audio have it right in the spec sheet, they've got it completely wrong on the product page (and everyone seems to be copying that). I've always wondered what was right and what was wrong.

I couldn’t help but notice that you chamfered the inside of the the holes is this a direct result of Vincent’s comments and why is it so important to do this? Paul thank you for taking the time to film the build edit the film and upload the content I for one am really grateful for the time you’ve taken to help educate us much appreciated

Learning process for me to. The more you look into it, the more tips ie chamfering you get from other people Makes sense when you stop and think about it as it will allow the movement of air from the back of the driver easier but, to my ears, I reckon I'd never notice!!

The copper part... WOW. I really like how you make boxes! Like your design. Amazing skills working with MDF. But no audio filters (even for full range drivers it's needed to be calculated), no box volume calculation.

Thanks, I do work with WINISD to get rough box sizes but make them to a size that I want them (therefore won't get near the bass as usually smaller boxes) . Yes, I realise I can add baffle step filters to improve the sound but, currently I am just trying to show how to make neat boxes. I am sure as my journey continues, these will come in due course same as 2 way and three way with Crossovers!!

@@DIY-AUDIO I've got your point. REALLY neat boxes ). I wish your journey to continue and would amaze us. I know that making bigger box won't ruin the project, but it's also about the sizes of the speakers, with such driver the speakers could be made really portable without damaging bass. Best wishes. p.s. at least use capacitor on the driver to protect it.

hello, for these speakers I will have put a box volume of 4 liters with a tuning tube of 23cm. but it remains a very beautiful achievement

This build looks amazing. If you do a review video, could you compare the Dayton driver to the MarkAudio drivers you used in the past. I am trying to decide what to use for my first build and your views on the different choices would be awesome. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Review video will follow in a week or so. From initial listening, I'd put the Dayton Audio above the 3" AIYIMA speakers (mind you, they are over double the price!) and I did my best to get best sound to size ratio on the box. Links for these are in the description and finally they are back in stock!

Hi! I don't understand when you Say that cut 1cm smaller to Aid the glue. Can you explain? Thanks
@DIY-AUDIO
@DIY-AUDIO Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I can't remember but from memory it wasn't actually to aid the gluing but to ensure the mdf came in contact with the mdf and not the ply allowing an even glue. Just badly worded I'm afraid!!

Ive just bought a pair of PS95's to build small bookshelf speakers, not sure if I should leave the enclosure sealed or ported? They're smaller than your build - 250 x 12 x 12?
@DIY-AUDIO
@DIY-AUDIO 2 жыл бұрын
I reckon if they are that size, you may be able to do either. A Chap in comments below reckons he would. Of built with 4l enclosures but that's massive and defeats the object of small bookshelf speakers!! A couple of my other designs are similar size (AIYIMA drivers though) to what you plan and I rear ported them. They are on my channel. Best of luck whichever way you go!!
@alheeley
@alheeley 2 жыл бұрын
@@DIY-AUDIO Thanks! From what I absorbed so far, ported enclosures seem to offer a bit more bass boost to allow smaller speakers to be a bit warmer - that is probably a massive over-simplification!
@DIY-AUDIO
@DIY-AUDIO 2 жыл бұрын
@UCFAQqWyJ6LvWPiIKbI0RlTQ yep, possibly correct. Get yourself a subwoofer and you wouldn't need to worry!! Or if your music choice isn't bass reliant again, why bother porting!!

Aftwer a few days listening I decided to add a front port to the bottom of my build, 1" dia about 3.5" long and its really opened up the lower frequencies and is quite a bit louder, so happy to have investigated.
