I love the idea of Bandy being selectively mute. Like… he’s perfectly capable of talking, he just chooses not to, and it’s eerie. Maybe even the rest of the Wonders (with the exception of Creed, probably) don’t even know he could speak if he wanted to. There are a lot of opportunities for there to be a really good creepy dramatic scene where he says something for the first time at like a pivotal moment or something

Here’s an interesting idea for Bandi, you could use the idea of “when the character with the closed eyes opens their eyes run” so Bandi is fully capable of speech but maybe finds it more entertaining to not speak to annoy everyone around him and allows him that clownish flare when he’s emoting, but then have something happen like oh shit moment where Bandi speaks for the first time

Maybe at some point, his curse acts up after using it too long and perhaps he teleports… but not all of him teleports. (Definitely inspired by Harry Potter but shhhhh) The gang just suddenly hear this blood curdling scream from a voice they don’t know and they run over and see Bandy gripping his shoulder and his arm a couple meters away, writhing in pain. Smile is gone, just his teeth gritting in agony and clearly in horrific pain. Perhaps Lance hears this from a while away and completely pummels the crew after thinking they cut Bandy’s arm off. Eventually Creed tells him to just grab Bandy and GO and Lance reluctantly agrees.

To add onto this: What if before this scene outside of using their names Doc refers to everyone as just "patient" or "subject" and to his teammates specifically as either "associate" or "assistant" depending on if he was running support for them or if they were running support for him? In the scene where he's desperately struggling to reach a gravely wounded teammate, he screams at the heroes to "let me help my friend". For extra extra emotional gut-punch factor, he can sound absolutely terrified and/or broken at the idea that his teammate may die just because he couldn't get there to remove the injury quickly enough.

Actually the vampire thing applies more than you know. Creed looks almost consumptive- that being the fancy term for tuberculosis. It's been associated with vampires in a couple of places, including Dracula!

Here's my pitch for Excalibur: It's a sword that Eira has when he first joins the group, probably sentimental or given by his dad. Maybe it's even quite powerful. During his first fight with Lance, Lance takes it. Now, on top of Heartless' Hero's Journey, Eira wants his sword back. There's also something to be said about The Sword in the Stone, paralleled by Eira's sword in Lance's intangible hoard. It's just one pitch, possibly among hundreds, but I just thought I'd put it out there.

Random idea - what if Dock has a low pain tolerance? So the gases in his mask are a constant pain sedative. And that when he inflicts pain on himself, it's lower because he has complete control over what he's doing, but taking pain from his allies requires more effort because of his low pain tolerance.

So especially with dock, you can really feel the weight of these characters. You can just see that dock is veryyy heavy. The firm stance to balance his weight, how he holds up his arm even doe it's decomposing just feels like all his weight pulls him down, in a menace way. His presence in general, incredibly menacing.

Most of the time, he's just there silent, look down on you, judging and studying you, but then when he speaks it's meaningful and hits hard. Lorelei's stars being on her back is perfectly poetic. The spokesperson, the proverbial face of the jury, hides her true nature behind her back. Literally a coward of honesty, ironically she's spineless. Bandy being mute would be an excellent way to make him more of a threat to the heroes. While his powers land him in the second weakest among the jury, he literally can't explain every detail of how his curse works. His opposition would have to theory craft every small mechanism that his curse operates to which, when they're wrong it surprises them, when they're right it surprises Bandy. Dock being a self-made Doctor Frankenstein and Frankenstein monster is also a chiefs kiss for me. Also, just a suggestion for Diana's curse; The Curse of the All-Seeing. Of course a reference to the All-Seeing eye.

I love fucked up villain relationships. The thought of Lance growing possessive of Bandy is COMPELLING. Maybe not romantic at first, but he just grows more possessive and later even a bit caring for the jester. I like to imagine that Bandys power drawback when he uses it too much is something like not all of him getting teleported, similar to Harry Potter. So maybe when he overuses his ability, he teleports and leaves his arm behind. Lance hears his screams (even more horrific if Bandys mostly mute) and runs over and thinks the gang cut off his arm and goes into a full rage.

All of them look absolutely fantastic!!! But something about Diana specifically makes the braincells spark the right sorta way, with her symbolism heavily associated with the heavens and the divine and her crosshair things almost looking like biblically accurate angels against her primarily brown color scheme. You absolutely hit nail on head with the vibes of all of these illustrations though I think they'd all look amazing as figures especially with Lorelei's hair and the rough edges of Lance's armour Bandy's energy in his piece was also fantastic I love the effects of those stars like he's just about to switch, seeing how he's already morally gray I like the thought of him somehow instigating a larger threat near the end of the story. I wonder if some of the weapons he recognises are ones he has forged for dear friends and acquaintances in the magic community who he lost contact with. And recognising them leads to him realising that they have met a sticky end. It could open up the opportunity for some backstory. alternatively if their are some background characters with recognisable weapons that the group part ways with earlier in the story then the weapon reveal could hit the audience at the same time as it hits Irah.

(Mostly) my partner and I had made a theory that before Heartless had died and revived, he was a bad witch who had killed Creed’s family and then tried to kill Creed before running away, and the backfire of the spell cursed Creed and that was the big reason Creed hates witches. It’s a bit of a reach with that theory but we had a lot of fun making it together! ^^

!Giant wall of head canon alert! Perhaps adding onto this line of thought, what if at the beginning, magic was like a natural wild energy that was at first semi-accepted in an attempt to understand its logistics. And in doing so, they reverse engineer the supposed process of magic manifestation which caused the creation of curses. And as humans do when they don’t understand things, they immediately do into the defensive once they learned of the destructive nature of curses. Which accidentally got conflated with natural born magic; due to the misinformation and later propaganda (for political power reasons or fear mongering) that spreads until it became a fact. There would of course be a few researchers that will still continue the study of magic, and they have somehow created a breakthrough on their understanding of magic as a very complicated yet wild nature that *could* be replicated, or at the very least understood, but has a high margin of error. Which could Segway as Heartless’s possible backstory of a research subject that was a result of replicating said magic. And his existence itself could serve as a testament “F*ck U” to the hypocrisy that the Wonders, and their narrow view of magic, or in their case; the Curses, as a dangerous force, when in fact, can be managed if there was an understanding to back it. And perhaps, that initial research team was called: The Wonders, to foreshadow a history that they once had in understanding and the curiosity to educate themselves on magic, but due to Sans experiment on Curses, they had lost sight on the: Scientific Method. And became enraptured with their biases. (Plus, it would go full circle to heartless’s themes of understanding and self discovery being an ongoing process, acting as a dark mirror when you don’t)

It could be that they’re dead? Or at least publicly they’re dead. It could make a pretty good bit of propaganda, “Oh those horrible witches killed our heart and soul, the Fifth Wonder! Without them we will never be the same, we have lost out joy! But it is for them that we continue the good fight in their name, so that no one else might lose their light to witches!” It would make a very fun speech from Lorelei, and there would be a bit of foreshadowing if Heartless turned out to be the resurrected fifth wonder. I don’t quite know how those logistics could work because Heartless has magic, not a curse, and as far as we know there isn’t a way to genuinely gain magic without being born with it. But it would still be interesting.

Some of my favorite headcannons in the comments: *Creed:* the effect his powers may have (or may not have) on Heartless' powers, his monstrous form being basically an inconceivable mass of black hole (he doesn't use it at 100% often bc it really takes a toll on himself and potentially his team, but does crazy damage whenever he fully unleashes it) *Lorelei:* shortly after joining and receiving her curse started to doubt the jury and tried to back out, was forced to brainwash herself into submission and loyalty and went a little insane because of it (maybe the heroes find out about this but her arc ends in "not everyone can be saved", very tragic and dramatic. Like the opera, or ballet) *Diana:* curse of fate (cause the fates and how good of an assassin she is yk yk), her moral greyness and overall indifference towards honor vs Flint's whole personally surrounding honor and morality would make every interaction between the two VERY entertaining, even though she has been bestowed with a curse she considers herself apart from the jury, essentially being paid for partnership as a trained sharpshooter, isn't particularly loyal to Creed, but loyal to his money *Lance:* tries to steal one of Eira's ice weapons during a fight, locks it away in his little pocket dimension, tries to resummon it in a follow-up fight with Eira only to get a splash of cold water on his back, really doesn't care if someones a witch or not, if Creed says kill them then he kills them, its a little treat for him every time, he's like the jury's rabid guard dog, they have to take him out on walks and shit, you can't tell me he wouldn't chase a squirrel if so inclined *Bandy:* mute and speaks in an amalgamation of sign-language and charade moves, everyone in the jury knows at least a little sign language which can lead to some purer scenes between jury members and Bandy as they interpret what he's saying out loud to the others, he can speak when in a different body, whenever he switches to a different body his curse markings go with him (as a way for the heroes to identify him after they catch on) Doc: *How Does One Improve Upon Perfection*

Another headcannon for Bandy: he's REALLY good at playing instruments and will sometimes play them to either entertain or annoy the other wonders or jury members. He'd probably try and ask Lance to steal him some nice instruments sometimes as well

Honestly I think the way their curses work is actually very brilliant, it makes it so easy for them to hide to the public that they are monsters and make them seem more like martyrs because in almost every other anime show the main characters would have some terrible curse that consumes their body, but they have to use it to save the day. It’s kind of like poking at the cliché.

A cool idea would be(since we have more info on curses) that heartless was born from two people with curses. So his magic is still natural, but not in the same way everyone else’s is. Which would help it make sense with why he doesn’t have a heart, and could make an interesting plot point for him character arc.

Something I think may be cool with the whole idea of him being non-verbal and the ability to swap bodies is if he took the body of the King who is blind (I think his name is Arthur?) and lost his ability to fully communicate. Like Bandy thinks “This is such a strong guy with so much power taking his body would make everything a breeze” and then realizes he can’t see anymore, it would especially be interesting if he had like a cooldown on it and after he got back to his own body gained a respect for the king. If Bandy had a redemption arc I think this would be a neat way for him to switch sides and follow the king knowing what it’s like to not having one of his senses

For instance Lorelei probably wouldn’t bother because communicating with Bandy, someone with a much lower ranking, wouldn’t be considered a priority for her Meanwhile Lance might be actively trying to learn because we wants to be able to communicate directly with his partner

Perhaps in regards to Dock, a possibility when he’s taking wounds from others that pain could be multiplied by a certain amount when he takes it and lingers even after transferring it, because a good pain threshold is always something fun to keep in mind, also just love the idea of Dock willing to take absurd amounts of pain that physically strain him (without be totally permanent) and his team hating seeing it

I knew this would be a fantastic end to the heartless concept corner, I look forward to seeing what you show us next, no matter it is! I love the arm on Creed to visualize his abilities and how tired and weak he looks, great way of showing just how draining it is even when he uses it on a base level. Lorelei I just l like her design over all, I imagine her getting angry and the curse flairs a bit, connected to her emotions so she starts to sprout little feather or just sees them as a sign that she's not fully in control of herself anymore. The calm, collected, manipulative girl turns into the raging, emotional, yet still hypnotic monster. Diana looks different to the usual characters in this kind of stuff (body type) and it's amazing. That difference take nothing away from how amazing she looks with the eyes and the gold, just showing they can look fantastic when done right instead of things thrown together for 'representation' Oh! And curse of fate, as if your fate is sealed when she has you in her sights. Lance is just.... He's the chaotic hot boy we all love, we like to think that he thinks more and might actually care but in reality he only thinks strategy and past/future fights, otherwise.... Head empty. Bandy, just raises an eyebrow because he doesn't really enjoy alchemy's joke. Which just frustrates them to his joy. Could work even if he's not mute, he's just messing with her. Making him think that bandy needs help when he can't speak, possibly forced to act like this but than he just dies laughing at how dumb he thinks alchemy is for falling for the trick. But yes wings would be sweet, and I like his design in general. Dock I don't have too much to say, it's good work, he's creepy but looks powerful. Not showing his face was a good choice because it dehumanizes him and make him look more so like a mad man or well.... a monster under there.

Is this intentional, or was it just a little oversight. It also makes me think, remember Krome? Maybe he managed to find some way to heal the Wonder process, and so that's why there's a missing Wonder, and why he has history with them. Idk, it probably wouldn't work, just spouting ideas.

He’s a mine who’s mute and he tends to communicate in the form of charades which is not only really fun to watch, but also hilarious when people are trying to guess what he’s saying. There’s also the option of Bandy using sign language, but I think the charades thing is more fun.

If you’re still considering the how permanent Creed’s arm is, it could be interesting if it acts almost as a built in timer or vulnerability. Like the longer he uses the curse the further it spreads up the arm, and either for physical or psychological reasons, he has to stop using the power before it consumes his heart or something. This could be a good way of putting a limit on arguably the most powerful person on the team, who could straight up kill one of the heroes. Or the hero’s could try and exploit the limit he has by making him waste time. And could also be interesting if during the final fight he finally lets go and let’s the curse consume him, revealing that monstrous form you mentioned

Don't know if this is intentional but I just realised that dock leaves, while having perceived medicinal purposes, are actually theorised to be a placebo effect, which fits really well with Dock's whole "I'm a healer but I ain't a healer" thing, and I thought that might have inspired his name.
