You made that look extremely easy! I have purchased a mini lathe especially for this purpose. I now know that I definitely need to upgrade my cutters. Also, where did you find the mandrel you are using? I fashioned one out of nylon spacers that I cut into bushings.
@TheBeardx163 ай бұрын
Hi Justin Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. The mandrel i use is a pen turner mandrel from Amazon, and I 3D printed the grey cone-shaped parts so that I could put different size rings on it. On either side are just penny washers to protect the plastic and for a nice solid surface to compress either side for a secure hold to stop the ring spinning. Good luck with your new lathe .did you go with a mini wood turning lathe or a mini machine lathe? You could make your own rings from scratch like i do now. I dont buy the blanks anymore.

Rich, love your work! hoping you can help. I use a drill/ dremel for filing, with sandpapers and polishes- but I’m struggling to find a bit that will hold the ring! I’m thinking maybe a stepped rubber cone? not entirely sure what to search for as so far I haven’t had any luck! Really hoping you can point me in the right direction of what I’m after is called. Thanks!

Lovely work. I too am a memorial jeweller. Ive not made a chanel ring yet as I don't own a lathe. My question is regarding the 03 glue. Have you tested it for discolouration/yellowing over time like some resins do. Just curious. Only just found you so I will watch the rest of your videos. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge.
@TheBeardx16 Жыл бұрын
Hi welcome to my little channel I just hope I can keep you entertained. I've been ising 03 for a while now and can honestly say that I haven't seen any discolouration or yellowing. Most of the time I'm laying it on top of mica migment or opel so you probably wouldn't see a change anyway. The pens that I made last year where coated with a clear 03 finish and are just as if they where made yesterday. Hope this helps. If you order some 03 please take advantage of my discount in the description.
