I use a hot glue gun to fill in the larger shells. This cuts down on surprise bubbles, keeps the shell from floating to the top, and saves resin.

So it's HEAT that gets rid of the bubbles. Not necessarily what CraftClatch (isn't she fantastic) but a hot glue gun while securing the shells together? I don't think I know enough yet to try this on my own yet. You all are so wonderful and brave.

I know this is old, but it just showed up on fb outta the blue for some reason... I love the beach! We collect Cape May Diamonds all summer and go at least 3x/week or more....this looks fun... I do sand/shells in fancy bottles, but can't wait to try this! Subbed! 😊

I have finally gathered some supplies! I am about to embark on my resin journey - thanks to you! My FAVORITE is the beach-themed coaster, so, I am going to try that first. You are TRULY an inspiration! When I first started this - several months ago - I had a totally different idea in mind. It was beach-themed jewelry. I did a KZbin search and ended up on your beach-themed coaster video and I have been heading this direction ever since! I have been a professional writer/SEO content creator for 13+ years now. Those do look very beautiful. I like the darker blue one best though. :D I have no trouble with little shells. In fact I collect the empty snail shells I find around and in my yard. I make little creatures out of clay to put inside them. :P Soon I plan to buy the large escargot shells they have at walmart. It is kind of expensive but I am sure I could make my money back by selling a few. :D - Heidi

thank you for this lovely video.. one question. How many hours do we have to wait before adding pigment or sparkle dust.. your solution already looks dried when you added color. Do we have to wait for 12 hrs after initial pour of resin and then another 12 hours after adding colors?

on a recent visit to the beach i vame home w. many shells of all sizes the ones im in love w. are a lil smaller than a pencil eraser. i made a pendant and messed up using acrylic water instead of resin. do u know how to remove hardened resin or acrylic water off from shells so they dont deteriorate? tia

Hi mona. I have two questions for you regarding the resin. 1. What kind of cups do you use to stir it in? I've seen people say just paper cups they buy from the store. 2. when you are using paper images. I know you seal it with the Mod-Podge, but does it matter which one you get? My wonderful partner is excited for me to try this out and picked up some things for me. He got me Mod Podge that says Paper under it. Will this work? Thank you for the help.

Marti Hall hey! I saw your comment, and I can answer your second question. No, it doesn't really matter which modge podge you use, the one that is specifically for paper should work beautifully

Marti Hall and to your first, plastic or paper cups work fine, and I would try to get some of those graduated measuring cups that you may have seen used for children's liquid medicine.

I did this with in a plastic mold and now the resin is stuck in the mold! :( It's impossible to get out, do you know what to do? Maybe I should've used some oil in the mold before starting with the resin. But do you think I can save it somehow?

Not the whole paperweight, but you can fill in the shells to keep the large bubbles down.

Hi Crystal! I don't know how to remove it. You can try soaking it in rubbing alcohol and see if that does anything.
