@Brad AmeerBeg you can start on Amazon. Home Depot and Lowes have some you can start with. Even Michael's l think has Amazing Cast which is great for the small stuff. It is an EXCELLENT beginner resin. I love it for jewelry. I do large resin projects also so l use a different brand too. Not sure if you are in US or UK. Start with small sized bottles as resin can be expensive. If it says pint you are getting 2 half pint bottles. The combination of the two is a pint. Read the label carefully. Some can be mixed by weight others must be mixed by volume. Some 1:1 others not. Some can be mixed deep others cannot gom more than 1/4 inch. Know what you are buying. Watch some safety tutorials first. Resin needs ventilation. His projects are small but most of us wear respirator masks. I wear gloves too but Ace is only doing small stuff so he isn't getting any on his hands. As a newbie start with gloves 🙂🙃. Good luck. Have fun Resin is a BLAST!

I am TRYING to do this and got all the glitter on and was ready to continue, BUT... It looked like it was not going to be very visable through the half dome that was about to be poured for the top. So, I soaked it in soapy water and peeled all the glitter and glue off and am about to begin yet AGAIN! I was wondering if that last dark layer that covers all the spirals is necessary or if you think it darkens the final product at all. Since it's not the part you see inside the spiral, just wondering if it serves a purpose. Thank you AND I just LOVE this sphere you made! Whether mine turns out okay or not, YOURS is great!
@resinAce4 жыл бұрын
Hi, depending on your coverage of glitter on the spiral part you may need to go over it twice before going all over it with the last layer. The last layer isn't absolutely necessary, I thought it would add to the effect if the outside appeared a solid colour.

I love the finished product, I have a question tho, How do you finish the sides? Every time I use this mold, I get a lip, I try to sand it, and it only gets worse, Full of pits, then I try to fill back up with resin, just becomes a blob of hot mess.
@resinAce5 жыл бұрын
On this one I just trimmed it with flush cutters, and because there was a line in the pattern between the two halves of the sphere it wasn't really that noticeable. Joins in moulds are always hard to deal with unless you have some professional buffing equipment.

I ordered holographic glitter, but am I impatient, so since I have my little cone ready to go, do you think it would work with regular glitter? I blame YOU! Thanks for a reply and thanks for your idea!
