Can we just take a second to admire how accepting this guy is of criticism? In every comment I’ve seen so far talking about what they disliked, he seems to be very nice about it. I love when people can accept that not everyone will like their work, and take into consideration what they can do to improve!

I wish you'd covered the entire bottom with the sand. It doesn't really look like the ocean with just a circle of it.
@resinAce5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I actually did that for a trial run but I didn't think it looked as good. I also tried regular beach sand, but it turned too dark in the resin.
@crazycatlady395 жыл бұрын
Hmm, then maybe a bigger circle of sand? Or a not quite to the edges square? My opinion is just that if the bottom isn't completely covered it reminds me of a fish tank. But it is still cool.

ive seen people mix out gradients with a few layers of slightly more dye each time to make the transition between clear to blue look natural
@samanthakarabin70585 жыл бұрын
Some people are saying the blue next to the clear looks odd, but personally I like it. While it might have looked better with more of a gradient, it allows you to see the sand and shells at the bottom better. I have seen quite a few resin projects where they either do all blue, or blue at the bottom and clear at the top, and it makes it hard to see whatever is inside it. Very cool though

He poured clear resin over the sand, let it harden, and then poured the blue dyed resin over top of that. He couldn't have mixed them doing it that way.
@technopoptart5 жыл бұрын
@@crazycatlady39 actually he could have. it is common enough practice to only pour very small layers each with a slightly richer colour than the one preceding it. it is often done in dioramas but it would be the same here as well
@crazycatlady395 жыл бұрын
Then we misunderstood each other. I was referring to what he did in the video. I wasn't aware you were talking about another way of doing it. I thought you were talking about doing it the same way as in the video.
@GamingWolfGod5 жыл бұрын
@@crazycatlady39 Another way to blend the layers is to pour the next before the previous layer hardens. You wait till it hit's a jelly-jello consistency and add the next layer. This helps prevent there from being as hard a line between the two layers,

I like the way this piece was done. Its design is very tasteful and doing stuff with resin seems like a lot of fun, even if time consuming. I've been wanting to make stuff with resin myself, but I haven't been able to get around to it. I think of I were to tackle this project, I would have had the sand fill more of the bottom and maybe added a few droplets of clear resin into the bottle to make it look wet. Other than that, it's great! Edit: Well, I just scrolled further through the comments and noticed that my suggestions have been made already. Oops.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. A project like this does require a lot of stages, but each stage itself doesn't take too much time. You just need to make sure you have all the materials and equipment ready beforehand.

Looks amazing! I am getting ready to do a 3.5" x 3.5" x 3.5" cube. I'm putting sewing buttons I found from my grandmother throughout it. I am going to do it in layers. I have read in other places that sanding between layers is important to ensure curing/adhesion without any lines visible. I noticed no sanding in your video. Can you offer any advice?
@resinAce4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have never had problems with layer adhesion, especially if the previous layer has only reached the gel stage and not fully cured. If you sand the layers you will have a nightmare with dust sticking to the inside of the mould.
