Lol I appreciate it man. I found one of these in my grandpas old tractor shed (which is collapsing) from the late 40’s and was wondering how to get a new belt on it. Turns out I was just missing the lock key on the right side of the bushing. Im doing a semi-restoration on it, and plan to use it a bit in the future. I’m a younger guy but love tinkering with old machines.. especially when they have MADE IN USA proudly on them. At this rate, I’m going to have a fully functional shop straight out of the 50’s.

Just FYI the 109 is not an Atlas lathe, it is an AA lathe. The Atlas models sold by Sears/Craftsman are considered to be quite a bit better than the 109 lathe.

Im so dumb i didnt think there was a key on the shaft 😂 welp i probably ruined the bushing i could probably find them for cheap..

The end of the shaft was bigger than it should have been because some goober has hit it with a hammer during the previous belt change.

Stop the bullshit and get a link belt,,,no need to remove spindle and it's a lot less vibration and quieter

This guy is a joke,,,if he knew anything about lathes he would know about link belts,,better in every way,,and no need to take lathe apart to replace belt.
