They have used various drive systems through out the years. You may have an older or newer unit than this one. Keep watching, i may work on one similar to yours.

I have a question about my model. I have a 2007 with the same deck and drive system, and the front wheels when pushing it freely up the driveway when the engine is off are not the smoothest anymore, a little bit rough and a little bit loud but not smooth going at all and the wheels are in great condition inside and out. Also, when turning the mower when the drive system is engaged and the Mower is set back down to the ground the right wheel will stop turning due to the added pressure onto it and it’ll grind because the gear is still trying to turn but the wheel gets stuck for whatever reason and it drives me nuts because it happens frequently when mowing. Other than that the drive system pulls along quickly when moving evenly…I can only assume the culprit would be the gears since this model is an 07 and I’m sure they’ve never been replaced? I’ve used two sets of wheels the original oem ones that are in great shape and brand new ones same as in this video but the oem for mine are a little thicker in size. Hope you can provide me with some type of answer about this so I can fix it, I really love this mower

That is why sears went out of business, for selling junk and sky high prices on parts,greed did them in.

@@americafirst2785 No mines about 17 years old and was neglected all its life and the gears were shot was all, still runs like new and looks new and I’ve had several craftsman’s over the years and the only one I ever had issues with was the one that was made by MTD/Black and Decker and not Husqvarna. Got rid of that junk long ago. Their mowers and products went to shit as soon as Husqvarna sold Craftsman to Black n Decker, that’s when it all began. Husqvarna had much higher standards which is why they were number one in America for so long and that further adds to the downfall of Sears and Craftsman especially

That was a very good video with lots o good tips. I have a very similar model and now am repairing the drive system. It starts better than any mower I have owned. It does need new ball bearings for the front shaft . Worth fixing I hope.

does that pin that holds the gear in place also get replaced? on my craftsman one gear turns but the other gear doesn't. I already put on new wheels ... one wheel turns the other does not
@tommy-time52402 жыл бұрын
They don't get replaced. Make sure they are free and clear and greased up.
@Disdained_talent1 Жыл бұрын
Not sure I would have spent that much on a mower with a deck in that condition. Once that deck gives up the ghost you'll be back to square one. Be better off finding a good deck with a bad engine and putting your good engine on that. Informative video though!!!
