Do remember the part numbers on the kit? I bought this model for $20 and it needs a carb rebuild. Also need a part number for a air filter and the cover. When I bought it, it didn't have one on it.

@Home Garage, my blower layout is very same as yours.Just mines a Polan pro that I got used past week ago.Issue is, starts runs.About 5 min then cuts right off like a kill switch.I have broke blower down.Cleaned.New spark plug lines bulb filter and fule filter.Only thing I seen was coil looks wore down in middle.Pretty large gap.Other side is fine gapped like a business card.Same issue when all done..Never messed with carb except to clean outside.Flushed it with carb cleaner.I run 90 gas no ethanol.Sthil hp oil mix.What I suspect is owner ran crap gas left sit.Lines was white inside.I suspect carb issue.Although confused because runs like a champ for 5 min.Dies has to sit min or so to start.Motor does get very hot.When running it runs smooth.About all I know is for the sec that it has a Zama carb.100% looks like yours.Now I had a friend had a Craftsman would not start.I ordered him new carb.Was 100% researched and sub part per Craftsman was what I ordered.Carb arrived and was little off and no match.So, little worried about buying cheap carbs.Do you have a link for the part or rebuild you put in yours? A link to a good carb also same as yours?
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Joseph Baumgardner. I hate to say it but its definitely the carb diaphragm. The easiest thing is to order a new carb for $15 vs the rebuild kit on Ebay. Yes its risky cause you can order the wrong kit but the only thing to do is ask the seller which carb will fit your particular model. Let them work for you. Send them pictures of all sides of the carb and let them figure it out. I don't have any particular link I use. I hope this helps out.

Home Garage, I understand what you say.I order alot of parts both electronic and stuff.Got alot of knock offs out there listed.Problem with guys carb I ordered was, per the factory book that was part # sub.The seller did send me that carb.Just did not match 100% mainly start run area.Course came from China, but seems most stuff listed does.I hope carb is issue vs motor compression and so on.Or find the air flow leak game.Guess I'll attempt a parts list break down see what carb go from there.

@Home Garage, I have same leaf blower I got today used.First, I would like to touch on a topic that puzzles me.I have had used leaf blowers like this style.Polan etc.Older.Some ran some issues.I see that the motor gets hot fast.Really hot.Spark plug gets real hot also.Put a new one in and 2 min later take it out and looks white chard like.Any how, what causes motor to run so hot.I would think this is not good, but wonder if normal being I seen it time again? Next, back to leaf blower at hand same as you have.Starts and runs.Some times bogs down and up.Some times throttle wide open runs then cuts off.I also have the issue of have to run half choke.Full choke and it stalls.I replaced fule line.Fule filter.Took card apart and cleaned ( seen gum build up on small round silver screen ).So, to me it seems starve of fule.Thoughts? If carb or part you replaced, could I get the part number or link please.Side note- spark arrestor can't be removed.Although looks clean enough.Part you replaced, mine looks flexable although kinda bubbled up in one spot.Guy said blower been sitting a year drained gas out tank and carb.Course who knows how long gas has sat in it.But any how blower I picked up today is same as yours so fig you have hands on with this one.Craftsman vs the Polan I talked of while back which oddly other day used it was fine.Next day try to start and dead not even attempting to turn over.Spark tester shows I have spark.

Joesph Baumgardner thank you for your long comment. If the blower gets extremely hot then it's running too lean. Either adjust the hi mixture screw or find out if there's a fuel obstruction.

Joesph Baumgardner second question if the engine runs good and runs bad while squeezing the throttle then make sure the metering diaphragm is not semi stiff. It should be pliable.

Home Garage, thanks.Just attempting to give much info as can to help.So, I assume safe to say sounds like a classic carb issue.Both the Polan and Craftsman got hot.One thing I never messed with is the ajust screws.Also with my luck would get all out of wack with small run time on this Craftsman in ajusting getting it to stay running past a min or so if lucky.I can say my gas is good 90 no ethanol Sthil hp oil.So, if I replace carb can I hit luck without ajusting messing with lean screw etc? Another words new carb "should " be ajusted fine?
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 6 жыл бұрын
More than likely you'll have to adjust the new carb to the blower.

My blower is missing the smaller hose(I believe it's the return line)inside the gas tank,,could that be why it won't stay on very long before cutting off by itself?

sure, try turning the L screw on the carb, about a quarter counter clockwise, and to compensate for the extra fuel, you might have to turn the Idle screw clockwise about half a turn. You might need a special tool to turn the L screw though.

Why does a small engine need a diaphragm?
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 3 жыл бұрын
It's what controls how much fuel to deliver to the engine. When it starts to stiffen then the reduced fuel delivery to the engine doesn't allow it to work at all engine speeds.
