I always got along good with Homelite stuff. My 1st saw was a C-5. The last one was an 1150. Ran the trimmer for years that the neighbor wrapped around the tree after I semi-straightened out. Nothing now. A gray Echo and a Stihl blower and 3 Briggs, only one overhead valve, the other 2 flatheads. Ready for fall almost. Thanks!

I’ve only rebuilt one of those carbs. Could never get it to run well afterwards. Strimmer was an old one, I parted it out this year and bought a battery one ! Good looking blower

The ultrasonic is a good part of the magic to rebuilding 2 stroke carbs. I will do a video later this month on the gritty details of getting one to work right after a rebuild. It's all "old news" for me, so I might be accidentally skipping through steps that can make a difference.

I never even knew there was a tool for pulling fuel line, cool. Learned something new today. I've always cut the line end at an angle to a point that fits through the tank enough to grab it with needle nose pliers or forceps.

Guy, can you tell me what's the name of the coiled wire (if special) that helps pull the tank tubes through? It's pretty tough getting the tubes lined up and through the hole and this tool would make it easy. Do you know if Amazon/Ebay would have it, the cost approx. and the name. Thanks. Hi Bobby, I feel your pain. Every now and then, I rebuild them just because I can't find a good match. You are luckier than you think, Homelite carbs are usually pretty generic. Take the carb off and go to Amazon. I searched for "Homelite Yardbroom carb" and got quite a few hits. Make sure you have the carb on hand and hold it up to the monitor and visually match the results. Watch for choke lever, fuel line locations, and linkage, and you should find its perfect match pretty quick. Keep me posted! 🙂

They really are. I am not sure what the sticker says, I run them somewhere in the middle... they tend to smoke at 40:1 and run great at around 45:1

Replacing the primer bulb rarely works. Usually, if it's gone, it's time for diaphragm and gaskets. To make sure you get the right kit you want to take the carb off and find the numbers on the side and use those to order it. It will be 3 or more letters and numbers. If you haven't rebuilt one before, consider taking the easy way and buying a carb. They are cheap and come with filters and fuel lines and adjustment and line tools for under $20 and it makes it a quick and easy job. Let me know how it goes! 🙂

Great video and commentary. I have the exact blower with the exact starting problem. I've had mine for about 10 yrs and it just progressively got harder to starter until it wouldn't start yesterday. My model number has been conveniently scratched off!? Never had a reason to look for it until now. Is there any other place where I might find the exact model number on this blower other than the manufacturer's sticker? FYI, my carb has a high and low set screw but both are not adjustable. They have no slot for a flathead screwdriver. I viewed a guy perform a hack where he ground in slot into the screws. I'm not interested in working that hard. Any help is much appreciated.

Good morning, save yourself the work and order a $13 carb from Amazon. They usually come with the settings close enough to run perfectly fine and if you look around, you can get one with the adjustment tool iIncluded. Pull the carb off before you order a new one and search for homelite carb, then visually match fuel line location, linkage, choke location and all that, and it will work fine. It's an easy job throwing a new carb on! Let me know how it works 😁

@@jasonsnyder3910 I always worry when giving out part numbers, look at yours, then look at the image of the carb and make sure it's an exact match, *sometimes* (not always) they are slightly different for different regions or they change details from one year to the next for the same model. This one was missing an adjustment but the carb I used matched in every other way so I went with one that was fully adjustable. That said, the carb I used was a *UT09526* 👍

Sometimes finding missing airbox covers wears me out LOL. Finding the right part# is the hard part. This blower was a reasonably new Homelite 26b and the airbox cover is still available and the part # for is 521852001. I found one at Jacks Small Engines for $1.24 + shipping or on Amazon for $6.15 including shipping.

You are awesome sir, thank you so much. I picked up an open box new one along with the 25cc weed whacker for $30 total. This is all I needed to get them up to snuff. The seller thru in a Ryobi backpack blower too - broken starter cord assembly. That and a tune up kit w/ carb was $60. Probably sell it off, but I'm getting to like tinkering with little engines. Let's get it running. I have to ask a couple questions so I know what to suggest 🙂 1. Has it ever been run with regular gas *no oil mix 2. Did you make sure the carbs were an exact match? The hole in the back of the carb has to line up with the hole in the manifold 3. Did you double-check that the fuel lines aren't crossed? 4. Will it try to start with starter fluid With this info I will be much more specific in the next reply 👍

it could also be ignition coil replacement which is a pain in the rear. i just learned

Ignition coils aren't terrible but they are definitely annoying. You are usually going to take out quite a few screws to get to it on just about any blower. Chainsaw are the easiest for coil replacement, 3 or 4 screws on the side cover and... there it is.

I don't have a favorite brand, but I do have one or 2 I avoid( HIPA is too tricky to tune if you don't do it a lot). There are occasionally differences in carbs from different years of the same unit. The best thing to do is take yours off, then go to Amazon/eBay/whatever and look up your particular model, and visually compare the results. Watch for linkage, choke, and fuel line differences, and you will find a perfect match petty quick. If you are 100% sure it's this one, let me know, and I will dig up the model carb I used when I get home. 👍

Double check the tag(if it has one) mine was model #UT09526 and the 2 carbs available for it are 308054114 and 308054075 and they are reasonably interchangeable. I have a 2021 homelite blower sat all winter no fuel in it now spring it's a no start if I prime it at all it floods out when choking it it was starting to give me problems last summer I am running high octane no ethenol gas mix is that the wrong gas maybe for today's engines

I have found that they work just as well with plain unleaded in the mix, but the catch is that you need to run them empty before storing them for any length of time. Non-ethanol fuel helps, but premium is unnecessary. Your best bet is to drain the fuel, them make sure it kicks a little with starter fluid, if it does, order a carb kit with fuel lines filters and the wire tool and change of the carb, lines and filters. If it hasn't seen straight gas without mix, that will fix then 99% of the time, and it's a lot cheaper than a new one 👍

Just a update on my no start homelite leaf blower I primed 1 time full choke til hit moved choke up 1 notch til warmed up stays running bow then here's what I got if I release choke to full running position it stalls and dogs out but stays running if I go back to warm up position it runs full throttle I tinker with small engines myself I know it's a carb removel job and at least tear down and clean it maybe rerbuild it

The best way to do it is to take the old one off and have it sitting next to your monitor when you order . There are numbers on the side of the carb (ie:wt 324) that will identify it but you need to make sure the linkage, levers, choke style, and fuel location all match exactly. More expensive doesn't equate to better in aftermarket carbs, 98% of them work fine regardless of price.

I usually don't show links because from region to region (and from year to year) there can be differences that will make the one I used different than the one you might want. The good news is, they are super easy to find, take yours off and search for the model on Amazon, and visually compare them to yours. Watch for fuel line location, choke and linkage differences and you will find lots of matches. Look for a lot that includes fuel lines and an adjustment tool. If you are 100% sure they one I used matches yours, let me know, and I will look up the one I used. 👍

I usually strain out the bits and pieces and put it in the car with a full tank. It's not much fuel in a weedeater or blower so it's diluted to the point where it won't hurt anything. I usually put it in my 2017 civic and have never had any issues

And after all that you did not do the most important thing that everyone should do! Pull the damn exaust pipe off and remove that piece of brillow that they put inside as a catalyst to catch the hydrocarbons that is produced after burning gasoline. I work on 2-stroke engines daily and I own a chainsaw collection of around 135 chainsaws! And I know a thing or two about them and the do and the don't side of things as well! And you cannot restrict the exaust of a 2-stroke engine with Baffles and spark arrestors and narrowed down passages for the spent charge to try and find its way out of because the exaust gasses are super heated! And when they are super heated they move at twice the speed of sound! And the piston move so fast at wide open throttle there is no time in between the next spent charge of super heated exaust back to back to escape through all of that shit! So it sucks that heat back in and it goes through the transfer ports and ends up down in the crankcase! I drill a couple of small holes in the pipe between the two bolts that hold the pipe to the cylinder.I can be honest and say that I am not trying to save mother earth from 2-stroke engines pollution because first off, I m positive that they are not the culprit of global warming. And making horsepower and saving the earth doesn't work very well and as long as i can remember, a chainsaw was designed to disapate heat! That's why they were made out of magnesium! And all you have to do is take a look at a vintage chainsaw exaust pipe, or what is referred to as a stinger! And it tells the story my friend! And I live just west of Portland Oregon and I am sitting at 173 feet above sea level where I'm at, and there is an abundance of oxygen in the air only being 70 miles away from the ocean! And the EPA has all this equipment so frickin choked off these days that it just barely works at all! So when you open up the exaust and the needle jets so your not dealing with a lean condition that is when they come alive! And I just happened to enjoy disturbing the peace and making a statement when all my neighbors hear one of my hog slayer saws just barking like a big ol dog! There is just no mistaken about who's chainsaws are making such sweet music on top end, it says, There's a new sheriff in town boys! 🤠

I can't imagine 135 chainsaws in one place. That's a lot. I would love to see that some time. 👍 I don't usually fool with the exhaust unless it's a problem. If you are shooting for maximum performance, muffler mods are the best way to get max power, but that's not everyone's primary focus. In Texas we don't get anywhere near the rain you do, sparks from the motor can turn a tree cutting job into a fire fighting job in a hurry.

Fair enough brother! But it's less about the horsepower gains ( although it does make a major difference.) And more about getting rid of the number one issue that causes a chainsaw to stop working! And that would be that it seizes the piston and scuffs the exaust side so bad that it smears aluminum across the rings and sticks them in the ring land of the piston! Causing a low compression reading. By releasing the heat and allowing it to get away from the saw you are taking away up to 70% percent of heat related issues! That's a no brainer right there if you ask me! Now don't get me wrong! I abide by the rules where I live here in Oregon. And the rules are that you must have a spark arrestor in your exaust pipe when using a chainsaw on any Federal owned land! And it is designed for most of the people in public who are very sure that they're poulan Wild Thing has got to be the baddest chainsaw any man could ever ask for man! 😆 And if it calls for 32:1 on the mix there under the impression that you might as well go ahead and be safe about it and give it another shot for insuring there will be no way it could seize with the extra splash of good measure. When actually that is the exact thing that would cause a saw to do something such as spitting sparks out the exaust! Which by the way, I have never in my 56 years of life, ever seen a spark shooting out of the exaust pipe of a chainsaw! If you got that sonofabitch that plugged up and your tune is that far from where it should be, Then you probably want to catch the next bus to transgenderville and pick up a couple of knitting needles and a ball of yarn and start making scarfs or oven mittens! But for the love of Christ! I have to let you know next time I am in Portland(I am prone to wander. It happens more than you would think). I would love to see your collection. From my experience (recently, mostly in Texas, Florida, and Indiana) the primary enemy of 2 strokes has been users that think it's ok to put regular gas in(to finish the job) I don't see much in the way of sparks coming out of mufflers but I have heard enough stories in Texas about them from tree guys around here. I honestly don't know how trees manage to grow in Texas. It rains for about 1 week a year, and the rest of the year is dry and hot.

And I honestly don't know how you can handle that sweltering heat for days on end! It got up to 107 degrees today here and that happened to be the hottest day of the year so far. But I have been amazed watching all the tornado footage that accures when cool weather does arrive for you folks! You get some incredibly powerful storms that just makes us look like a bunch of sissies here in Oregon! And as terrible as I feel for people who get hit with one of those damn things, I can't seem to get tired of watching just how devastating those multiple vortex bastards really are! We travel all over creation, and when we see areas with tons of graffiti, we say "oh look, the art district" 🤣 Between everybody in Texas having a fun and fix old boy judges we don't have nearly as much here as we see in other places. The weather here is rough when the seasons change. My house has 4 skylights, and I lose about 1 a year to hail. I have gotten pretty good at replacing them over the years.
