John, one of the things I’ve really appreciated about you over the years is that you have avoided any commercializing of your channel - for example selling branded T-Shirts, creating members-only content behind a paywall, etc. It has helped in your efforts of creating a community, and is respectful of the lean budgets many of us have. And your steadfastness is amazing - a good episode every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Thanks buddy!

Of course I enjoyed the show Scout. I probably have the shortest pipe clamps in the world because besides G clamps I also collect all Australian made clamps so my pipe clamps are only 12” long so I can display them. That soldering iron looks like it was hardly used and now looks brand new. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺

On the pipe clamps, I always purchase pipe threaded both ends, I then purchased coupling for every 2 pipes I purchase, that way if I need a longer clamp I can couple them together to make the clamp double length. I have on hand, 2 lengths at 2’- 3’-4’- and 6’, with a coupling for each pair of pipes. It has worked well over the years for me. Nice tip on protecting the pipe ends with cane tips, will be getting those soon. Excellent job on the soldering iron. Thank you sir, enjoyed watching.

John that soldering iron did look new. Great job. I’m in a dilemma about all my clamps. I use to re glue furniture. I made good money doing it. Now I’m going to move and I have to downsize. Witch ones to keep out of them. I’ve had a lot of fun collecting all of my tools. Reality is I don’t use all my tools anymore. I have no one in the family to pass the bulk too. I’m faced with selling or last result donate. Thank You

I like the proverbs from Banacek, such as: Thomas Banacek: When an owl comes to a mouse picnic, it's not there for the sack races. The chicken that clucks the loudest is the one most likely to go to the steamfitters picnic. Read the whole library my son, but the cheese will still smell after four days. Those soldering irons are great. My son found a new old stock Radio Shack one at the store he works at. They had one they use once in a while and he thinks it better than the new fancy models. Speaking of the store when I asked if he could get the Tub O Towels, he said they have them on closeouts. He brought 5 home for $9 a piece. They had bought a case several years ago and couldn't sell them. I can't believe how high black pipe is. I think mine are 5 ft and were $10 a piece. No wonder few people use it. I sure wouldn't have passed that chair up. That said I am backed up on projects.

My Dad had a set of clamps. The pipes were 2 ft long. He had the collars to connect them together for whatever length you needed. When done he would unscrew them and store them in a bucket. He would watch for pipes at flea markets and yard sales and add them to the buckets. When he passed away and I cleaned out his shop he had collected forty pipes and ten clamps. Mom said he only paid about fifty dollars for the set. He made tables and doors. There was pipes that were up to eight ft. Long. Some had prices from 50 cents to 2.00 dollars. So don't pass up yard sales and flea markets.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Great job on the soldering pencil! I am surprised that the comet did not harm the writing on the vinyl. Was it Comet with bleach?
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 5 ай бұрын
I believe all comet contains bleach. It’s such a fantastic cleaner and depending on how much pressure you exert it can be mildly or a heavy abrasive. I do believe in the last decade they changed the ingredients because it doesn’t clean my sink as well as it used to, so I believe there’s less bleach in it now.

Great video 👍 That Poor Man’s FleaMarket is gold 🟡. That was a nice looking chair 🪑, I could see you sitting in it👍. I cracked up when seeing that Santa Claus 🎅🏽 figure 😂😂👍. That was a pretty great score on those led bulbs 💡and those pipe clamps 🗜👍. Those clamps come in so handy for big wood working projects. That Halloween 🎃 pumpkin that they had out was really cool. I seen one store that had a 6 foot plus skeleton 💀man on display for sale, I think he was about $70 bucks. Some of those stores go all out on there displays, but it is really cool to see. That was a fantastic clean up on that vintage Sears Craftsman soldering iron. That pouch looks really awesome! You knock that one out of the park🏟 ⚾️⚾️⚾️👍. It really does look like N.O.S. Now ✔️. I like those tools 🛠 that come with the tool pouch, I think the graphics are pretty cool on them. Again yours looks fantastic👍. Another great shot of Old Glory 🇺🇸 flying in the breeze. Thanks John, great show as always, the PMF is always interesting, that soldering iron came up like new ! Proverbs were big in my family too, and it's true what you say about history repeating itself, sadly it's often the bad bits that get repeated it seems, human nature I guess ! Pipe clamps have always intrigued me they're not such a thing in this country as we don't have the pipe readily available so you tend to buy the two together as a kit and it's generally not so economic !

I bought different lengths of pipe, threaded both ends, I also bought the threaded pipe caps, drilled a hole in the center of the cap and inserted an eye hook with a nut ,screwed the cap to the pipes and now you can hang them up to avoid clutter and also protect the clamps, also I was cleaning up some plastic handles using comet, I spotted my bar of Lava soap and gave that a try and it works great also and I believe a little less abrasive that the comet, give it a try.

If I had seen the inline skates I would have taken off the wheels. I use the wheels and bearings for wood turning jibs. The wheels can make very good handles for e.g., screws. Very nice job on the soldering iron. As you said it now looks like new-old-stock. I have several Jorgensen pipe clamps. Sad the Chicago factory closed. The brand was picked up by Great Star Tools who also picked up other defunct US brands like Arrow and Shop-Vac. They re-opened the Shop-Vac factory, but not sure which products are being manufactured at this location. Dave.

Remember when stores, like Woolworths, has a light bulb tester with sockets to screw bulbs into before you bought them? Some had a switch (for safety??). Some did not. Talked my brother into sticking his finger in the hole then hit the switch. Stores had vacuum tube testers. We would pole and prod to see what it did. Not the best plaything for kids in the grocery store.

Anyone who has worked with those clamps knows that the black pipe can stain the wood that you are clamping. You need to protect the wood from contact with the pipe! Paper between the pipe and the wood is enough. If you over tighten the clamp, you can also squeeze all the glue out of the joint and the joint will fail!

BUT if I threw out a broken lamp, I'd make sure it WAS broke, I'd harvest all the good bulbs AND plug myself before putting it on the kerb - waste-not, want-not, am I right? Although I already have enough short lengths of 2phase cord and UK13amp/fused plugs to last a lifetime lol.

I wish I could figure it out because he was a great guy, and I hate to see his channel taken over as it appears to have been. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnesfaOdir18r9ksi=DxWLr2ZVZULzzK-k

I can't believe the amount that is wasted, I personally think it's a younger generation thing. It's just not right the amount that goes to landfill.

Great score on those pipe clamps! It's crazy what black pipie costs now, I was at an auction a few years ago and bought 15 1/2 inch ones from 2=3 feet for $30 heck of a score!

When you said you wished you'd listened more in history, I could only think of this - history of the Bobcat. Who'd have thought turkey manure would lead to one of the best selling utility vehicles ? kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJfKdqVjo7V2rJo I'm not sure if this 'Tractor Wars' is worth sitting through the entire 56 minutes of but some of it is interesting kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5jXeYSLnp10rLM Anyway, no one listens to history at school.
