Caution for anyone cleaning up a girl scout knife like this one. I bought one for my daughter who earned the Gold award. After cleaning the knife and sharpening it, I applied acetone to remove fingerprints and any oil residue. The green comes from a thin layer of paint under the clear scales. Acetone nicely removed all of the green paint, ruining the knife. I had to gently pry off the scales and apply some thinned out green spray paint and reattach the scales. It was OK, but not nearly as nice as it would have been if I had avoided the acetone.

Great video John, I saw that big soldering iron and what a beauty it is. A lot of blokes just think if you need a soldering iron that big then use a flame but even a big iron can concentrate the heat with out damaging the surrounding material so much better than even a fine flame. Something I have noticed with things like Evaporust is there is a small window of time where the rust is removed but the metal hasn’t gone black yet. I love the videos of these shows and thanks for taking us along. I’m looking forward to some of the restorations. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺

Hey John, I collect knives and wanted to let you know, one of the best things you can do to clean up a old knife is to soak it in mineral oil over night. The oil will loosen up everything and lube the blades for you. Also it's safe so you don't have to worry about getting it on anything when you prepare food or whatever. Later

That looks like a nice get together. I have the screw jacks as well. If I can find them for $10-$15. Mostly $10. I clean them, grease the screw with synthetic grease and paint them usually black as I have it on the shelf. At the beginning of the video was that a Coleman single burner? I don't think I have seen one in a little suitcase style. Im in roanoke va, and we have a main hub of norfolk southern rail systems in downtown. I see a lot of old tools marked , but usually from the predessessor norfolk and western. Apparently railroads used those old screw jacks for engines or cars, those things are huge. See them in antique shops around town and I'd love to have one, but im betting they are heavier than an anvil. Hope i can find a smaller one some day. Gorl scout knife turned out great. Too bad girls arent interested in that much now a days. Kudos from the south.

I need to make it out to one of your meets. I have that B&D drill you had at the beginning. Got it around '89 and used the heck out of it. The paddle switch is a game changer. At the time there were really only 2 options for electric right angle drills that one and the Sioux which was bulky, not really a right angle (more like 45) had a weird switch and cost about twice the B&D price. I still have it and will use it from time to time. It really is a good thing that you stopped buying tools. 😄
