I know it’s pretty straight forward but this video was so helpful! I just got a vintage Vostok in and it was scratched to hell. I was definitely only going to use a little bit until you said to use more and even do it a couple times, watch is looking almost brand new! Thanks for the help!

Polywatch-ing is the best therapy. I've been using this stuff for about 8 years. I sit with my vintage watches in a row and I just slowly buff away til I get the most amazing luster on my watches. This stuff is amazing. I had two 25-year-old Swatch chronographs very scuffed. I brought them back to full luster. I think better than they looked brand new. It's just amazing what this can do to a watch but the buffing just is so calming.

I just used Polywatch on a Timex Marathon with some very annoying little scuffs and micro scratches and the crystal (acrylic) came up looking like brand new in about one minute. Good little product.

Did i get it right, for saphir crystal it‘s not recommended? What abot the bezel (pre-ceramic) - is there to pay attention?does it peel off paint of the bezel? Thank you for the advice

Thanks you were very thorough, I use an auto fine cut and polish compound, works well and I always have some in the garage! How about showing us the best and safest way to swap out a bezel insert. Cheers mate.

Was searching for a remedy to buff out a scratch on my smartwatch which carries a corning gorilla glass. Ended up finding your video. Would you recommend the Polywatch also for that kind of glass? Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, Polywatch is only for Crystal. I'm sure you can find some great recommendations for Apple watches on google! That's a little out of our wheelhouse.

@@craftandtailored Thank you! Appreciated 👍 However is not an Apple watch, which is said to have a special kind of sapphire glass. It's a common Android smartwatch with a common gorilla glass. Anyway thanks again for the advice. 🙇🙇

Polywatch is the best. I have an old Submariner that scratches if I look at it wrong. Polywatch and a minute of work with a microfiber cloth and it looks great. Best of all, I don't have to walk into a Rolex repair shop and risk getting killed for my watch when I walk out the door.

I am going to help someone that came here in a panic, because I got here...in a panic, haha. But by sharing what I learned today, I can help someone. I have a Vintage Rollie in my collection. This one is one that most people would recommend never wearing, but just keeping under glass. Well, I am not that guy. I do not do "winder queens." If something should be retired no "never worn" status. then it is probably better for someone else to buy it. I wear my watches. And that is how I put a DEEP scratch in my vintage Rolex. It was so deep that I was about to call my watch guy and ask him of we could find a piece of modern sapphire that is domed like this 70 year old acrylic, the integrity of the originality of the watch I believed already spent. So I came here and did what the video said to do. This video is for light scratches, not deep ones. So, once it didn't work, I went off script. I got a piece of 180 grit sandpaper and scratched the paint out of the original scratch. Yes, this made the scratch bigger, but at this point I was desperate. Then I went to the head and got some of my baking soda toothpaste. I spread that over the whole crystal, and waited 5 minutes. I came back with a dremel, with a buffing pad (speed 2 on mine) on it and buffed it out. It got better...but not perfect...so I repeated. After two runs it was a LOT better. So then I switched over to the poly watch. I did the same thing, buffing out with the dremel, THREE times. After the third time, the scratch was completely gone. So that was 180 grit to clean it up, a dremel to buff...two ruins with baking soda toothpaste and 3 runs with polywatch...allowing the substance to sit for 5 minutes before buffing each time. And I don't have to f__l up this vintage rollie by slapping sapphire in it. Hope this helps someone who came here in a panic.

if it manages to polish acrylic crystals, how come it doesn't scratch the metal part of the watch face? i would be very reserved in doing this with my finger accuracy :)
@cracker20
@cracker20 2 жыл бұрын
I find that because it's a rather delicate. I found that some of my metal pieces seem to gain a nice sheen as well. It's no different than using a fine sand buffer to buff a case.

PolyWatch is used on vintage acrylic or plastic crystals. Sapphire or mineral glass crystals typically cant be buffed out and can only be replaced if scratched

Waste of time was that expensive paste to give your watch a polished look, might work fine on the plastic or glass on your watch, however, I’m now using Autosol Chromed Plastic Cleaner instead, I’m getting better shines on my old watches that had now came out better than new.
