You can even get those deeper scratches out if you keep at it longer. I’ve even gotten DEEP gauges out of plexi, but used a coarse car polish (cutting compound) as the first step and 2 finer grades to then polish it out. Took about 30 mins for an almost 1 mm deep gauge. Of course, you remove a lot of material that way, possibly compromising the integrity of the crystal. So on something I’m gonna bang around and take in the water I’d rather replace the crystal.

THAT is an impressive improvement!! TT, ever since I've acquired my first GMT, I've been IN LOVE. My Q Timex GMT; Batman checked every single requirement box: Case smaller than 40mm, 70's-Styled Case profile, easily hides under shirt cuffs, MUST BE QUARTZ. I need "Grab N Go" Ready Reliability. It's been my Daily since last month. There is something special about the way the acrylic crystal appears "warmer" and I love the dial distortion, that SHT is HOT. Any watch that can make me LIKE and WANT the once hideous "Batman" colorway is a KEEPER. IDGAF if the Rolex GMT Master II Batman is the OG, I always thought it was an unappealing paint scheme. Your Speedy looks Sick AF w/the acrylic crystal. Your bracelet looks like the Forstner Bullet Bracelet.🔥🔥 I love your work. semper fidelis

I have a Seiko bellmatic from the '70s with an acrylic "crystal". It had a lot of scratches some of which were really deep and I tried buffing them out with 1500 grit sandpaper (wet). I thought I had ruined it! It ended up cloudy as if it had been sand blasted. I then had a "lightbulb over the head" moment. I buffed it with toothpaste using felt and it worked like a charm!

I have a '73 Seiko Bellmatic I inherited from my late father. It had a few deep scratches and tons of shallower scratches. I rubbed it down with 1500 grit sandpaper (wet of course) and I ruined it. I got all the scratches out but the acrylic was no longer transparent but only translucent and foggy. I then thought I just needed something finer to fix it. I dabbed a little toothpaste on a piece of felt and it worked perfectly. I got it looking like new.

A little tip, piece of corrugated cardboard, smear the compound onto the cardboard and , in affect, polish the cardboard with the watch, first remove the watch strap and keep the watch flat so as not to damage the bezel. You can also use toothpaste or metal polish. If you have one deep scratch, make sure you keep motion along the length of the scratch, it doesn't completely remove it but it softens the sharp edges and makes it less visible.

Are you sure it actually did something to remove the scratches, I've seen these polishers deceive people by just making up a thin coating that makes the scratch blend in with the coating then after cleaning it with soapy water and using a clean cloth to wipe the scratches return. I also wonder on what materials it won't work.

There are several different types of face from what you say. I have a Seiko with a scratch I want to lessen or get rid of. I am told that the face is made of glass, so is this the same as your Omega? The watch was around £150 when bought new and a jeweller has quoted me over £100 to replace the glass, so I think that course of action renders the watch BER, (beyond economic repair), so I want to try and at least make it a little better.

Try a Cork and brass, brass cleaner. Tooth paste has grit in it which will leave fine scratches. Use a Cork to rub the polish in. There are some good metal polishes that work very good. A Cork will get to the dge of the glass. A cloth will go over the edge and hit the surrounds of the watch!

If you categorize scratches: 1. Micro 2.Tiny 3. Small 4. Medium 5. Large Polishing will only get rid of #1. Nothing more. Look carefully under strong light and you will see 90% of the scratches are still there. It will look a bit better after the micro scratches are removed, the watch face will be less hazy but the scratches will still be there
