I love how you mention you can make panty liners out of the left over material. I’ve been using cloth pads for over a year and I would never go back to disposable. I can’t wait to make my own non paper towels!

I've made my own non paper towels, TP, my scraps i use for.make up rounds. I made cloth/flannel diapers for my son when he was a baby (he's 26yo now) But my mom, sister, son & best friend will get 4 dozen non paper towels for Christmas. It saved me LOTS of money & super fun & MUCH more absorbent. I hate using 1 time.items (napkins/paper towels, tp, etc) its saved me over $150 a year PLUS when everyone was scrambling for toilet paper & other paper projects.... i was not worried . (My homemade kleenex ones are lighter in color (besides no chaffed noses when i have a sinus problem) & have rounded edges vs my TP that are darker on one side & white on the other and are squared for easy distinction.I do have Tp, kleenex & napkins for anyone who comes over.

I did this a year ago. I had 3 rolls of paper towels and I still have 2 rolls left. I use microfiber cloths for cleaning and these for everything else. Best thing I did to reduce what goes to the landfill.

I've had this on my "Make it!" list for awhile now, and just got a variety of snuggle flannel in our kitchen colors from JoAnns (early Black Friday sale the week before Thanksgiving). I was thinking of getting a short section of PVC pipe to roll the unpaper towels onto and then slide that onto the holder I have mounted under a cabinet. Planning to use that leftover material to glue onto the PVC pipe to make it "grip" the pipe for the first towel rolled on.

We are on the same wave length..... I recently came across a set of flannel sheets that belonged to my daughter when she was little. I had a pillow case//top sheet and bottom sheet and made reusable towels for the kitchen. I am looking forward to Katharine coming for a visit so she can enjoy a flashback moment like I do every time I use them !!!!

That is a FABULOUS idea! I was looking around my house at what I already have available to use to make some of these and was struggling on what I was willing to repurpose. Well now.... I have a TON of extra flannel king size pillow cases that no longer are part of a full set as well as we just don't like to use such large pillow cases. Perfect solution! Thanks for mentioning this! That's absolutely what I'm about to use!

i just say the "commercially availalble" product at a high end "green clean" store and took one look and said, "i can do better than that!" I love how straightforward your instructions are. too many people on line have taken this incredibly simple idea and made it way more complex than it needs to be. i just happened to get a serger machine (i have wanted one for years) and now i have a great project to create using it. thanks for keeping it simple!

I don't have a serger machine but my machine does have overcasting for the edges. It worked out great. Easy and fun to make. Thanks for the video.

I've been holding onto flannel for a year and wanting to do this. I think I'm just going to try the pinking shears. My sewing machine sometimes eats the edges of fabric on me.

Haven’t seen you in ages!!! Was hoping you were ok. Thanks for visiting us!! I like the go green idea but admit I’d still be using paper towels as well for greasy stuff. I do use cloth towels in my craft room. They r really ink stained but I don’t care.

If using a serger, why would you need to precut the round edges? Won’t the serger cut the edges for you?

How do you know if the flannel you are buying is non-sleepwear flannel?

Check the selvedge or the bolt spool. (Or it should be on the website if online.) If you are using recycled clothing, don’t worry about it.
