I'll tell you an interesting story. In 1978 as an 8 year old, I dressed up for Halloween in a Gene Simmons costume. A day later i get a call from Gene Simmons lawyer. He tells me to stop using the Gene Simmons costume, unless i pay Gene 100 dollars.

My dad met Gene once. It was at the NAMM show, a huge music industry convention that usually has lots of famous musicians there . My dad’s company was an importer of a well known piano. Apparently this was when his Family Jewels show was still on. A producer or something came to my dad and asked if Gene could could to their booth and play one of the pianos and it be filmed. My dad said Gene Simmons? Who’s that, Richard’s brother? Meaning Richard Simmons the fitness nut. Haha.. In full disclosure, my dad wasn’t trying to be funny or insulting, he just didn’t know who he was. He did come to their booth, I saw the pics but it didn’t make the show, although they did have some scenes of him at NAMM that day with his son.

Even rewatching it’s just as funny. What’s even funnier was watching Joe Rogan interview Jakob Dylan. Jakob Dylan was talking about going to a recording studio and seeing Paul Stanley who had a box of kiss dolls with him. He said his son didn’t know kiss but was in awe that he was seeing someone who had their own action figure. He said Paul Stanley noticed the kid in awe and asked if he wanted an action figure. When the kid said yes he told him he could go to x store and they had them for sale.

Its crazy how they always talk about how much the fans mean and that yhey love the support of the fans.. but they charge these ridiculous amounts of money for meet and greets and sell these stage played guitars and basses for $3-12,000 dollars and also trying to rewrite Kiss-history and leave Peter & Ace out and i bet FAKE Ace and PRETEND Peter may be treated good but they don't mean anything to gene and paul. You can see it in the live videos they don't hardly show those guys..i know they are sitting pretty comfortable being replacements for those guys. For my 12th birthday my parents bought but me a ticket (obstructed view) to see KISS in concert on their Love Gun tour. One time throughout the show, gene was back stage refreshing his makeup and them I noticed a roadie walked over to gene and he gave him a pick, then he turned around and walked over and handed it to me and told me it was from Gene, of KISS. (Seriously, I did get a guitar pick but the dude didn't say anything. I think it was the first time I pissed my pants to from the excitement).. August 4, 1977.

I’ve toured with Kiss (Convention Tour 1995) and that ‘push women against the wall and hump them’ thing that Gene does is 100% true. I’ve seen him do it countless times. I’m honestly surprised in light of the #metoo movement that someone hasn’t come forward. I LOVE Kiss-and Gene-but he needs to learn it’s not 1977 anymore.

The best is Paul Stanley’s book, which he recorded the audiobook for. He talks about first meeting Gene, he was always arrogant. He talks about throwing pennies in the street when he was annoyed at Gene because he knew Gene would pick them up. It’s hilarious, he also exposes the financial reality of KISS and how Gene is just a dope. It’s a brutal take down of Gene.

That book was incredible. He said when he met Gene he was wearing overalls and looked like he was on Hee Haw. He did say a lot of the "Gene is a business genius" was collaborate stuff between him and Paul or the entire band. Another funny thing in that book was Paul talking about dating a girl in high school. Her Mother thought Paul was Italian. When she found out he was Jewish she didn't let him in the house.
