Got the w690 to first paint 20 fences, as a tester and practise before painting walls, ceiling and some furniture, first fence, used lots of paints and looked over painted to the point it start dripping, second fence I went to watch more youtube guides, so I increased the air and reduced the paint emissions, and that worked a treat, only remaining issue is the bottel size that I had to refill more often, yet the finish was great at fractions of the time and it was a pleasure to use. now watching more videos before I paint the whole house, will buy the Wagner masking kit, and good to know about corners with ceiling. Can I used a bigger bottel for fences

Does this work with any emulsions, like the most common ones from Wilko? Do they need to be diluted first?
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom2 жыл бұрын
Good question! It does work with all emulsions however we always recommend diluting 5-10% with warm water (for water based paints) and performing a test spray on cardboard before you go painting for real. You want a nice, fine atomisation with no large flecks of paint or spitting and no blockages! It's even better if you work with warm paint and strain it through a sieve after diluting 👌 You can do this as you load the materials into the container. Always check with the material manufacturer for their recommendations.

I have the Flexio 590, it is ok for outside fence and deck, but not inside fine detail. It spits small droplets and there is nothing that you can do to prevent this. Not enough thinning of material, it just hasn't the airpower to make a fine mist. I also tried a Graco Truecoat 360 VSP, its problem is that you can't control amount of material. It puts on the same amount of material all the time, if you turn down the pump, you have to slow down the arm movement otherwise tiger striping. Go with the airless pumps with a hose, the hose keeps the pressure constant, and you can change tips to give you the desired application. DIY systems can be had for less money than a hand held airless or HVLP system.

Hi, do i need to thin the paint?
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom13 күн бұрын
Often you do need to dilute paint, when diluting paint for spraying, follow the paint manufacturer's recommendations provided on the tin. Water-based paints are commonly diluted with water, making them easier to clean and suitable for various applications. For solvent-based paints, use the appropriate thinner. Proper dilution ensures smooth spraying and consistent results. Kind Regards Wagner DIY

Any machine will get hotter the more its used, if you're using a smaller DIY Wagner unit just stop regular to fill it up and let the turbine cool down if you feel it's getting to warm. I've personally sprayed many large outside and indoor areas successfully. Remember because you spray such a large areas very quickly and easily its fine to take breaks and your'll save time on the overall project.

I just got one of these guns and used it on a bathroom. I was able to spray Valspar latex without diluting it, however it seemed to have more issues with spitting. I had to constantly wipe the nozzle with a rag and make other adjustments. I sprayed the trim, this time diluting the paint a little and it performed brilliantly, very even coats and no spitting. Recommend thinning the paint a bit. Hope that helps.

How long did it take you to mask the whole room. I suspect much longer than it will take to roller the walls! Did you have to dilute the emulsion? If so can you give some guidance. Do you not get covered in paint spots yourself?
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom3 жыл бұрын
Hi Neal, you'll be pleased to know that with the right setup the paint stays on the walls and does not end up on the user - as you can see by Craig's clean clothes throughout! Also the pre-taped masking tape makes masking up large areas very efficient and certainly much quicker overall than rolling, especially when you consider the reduced drying time in between coats. Emulsion paint will normally be diluted at least 5-10%, meaning you have the bonus of your materials going even further.

I have this paint sprayer. I cannot get a consistent coat, and there is so much over spray that everything is covered in paint. My hair, everything in the room, if I don't block the door way then everything out side of the room is covered in droplets. Tried thinning the paint to get a better spray, but just got a thinner coat on the wall and it looked like crap. Maybe it's just me. Every video I see it goes on so smooth with no over spray floating around the room. In the time it takes to cover everything then paint, I could be done with a roller
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I am sorry you have had problems. Overspray is caused by the atomised spray ‘ bouncing back ‘ off the object being sprayed - usually, caused by either being too close or because the pressure is too high. To minimise overspray the spray movement should come from the arm, not just from the wrist. This ensures that a uniform distance is maintained between the spray gun and the spray surface during the spray operation. For wood and metal spraying keep a distance of 5 - 15 cm, depending on the desired spray jet width. When you are using interior wall paint, the distance should be about 20-30 cm. When you get to the end of each pass do not ark as you will send the spray into the atmosphere. You should also release the trigger while changing direction or you will get a build-up of paint which could run. Also do not over dilute the paint otherwise you will get runs etc There are a series of tips and tricks for using the Wagner Flexio HVLP paint sprayers here: go.wagner-group.com/spraying-varnishes, I hope that help. I'm considering this product but I'm concerned about overspray. In the scenario portrayed in the video, I have the impression there would be tiny specs of blue on every unmasked surface across the room.
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom3 жыл бұрын
Hello Joesph thank you for your comments. Before you using your Wagner paint sprayer and start painting, it's important to be prepared. This includes having all the right items to make your DIY paint spraying project go smoother and learning how to use a paint sprayer before starting. It doesn’t matter if you’re painting a room inside, or paint spraying the exterior of your home, we highly suggest covering anything you don’t want to get paint on. This is easy with painters plastic found at most DIY or paint stores. Use the painters plastic and maksing tape to mask off the windows, doors, floors and woodwork - basically anything you don’t want to get paint on. Kind Regards the WAGNER DIY team

Assume EVERYTHING not covered will get overspray. I just got the Flexio 3000 and after only doing 2 rooms I almost say this video is a lie. The sprayer was almost white with overspray after doing the ceilings and the tip clogged routinely during the spraying. The 3000 CANNOT spray un-thinned Valspar Ultra paint. When it worked, it was great, but it was so finicky I am taking it back and getting the Graco true airless sprayer. Plus not lugging around a quart of paint and worrying about it running out and re-filling it will be nice. Paint also MUST be screened AND mixed very very very well. And it still clogs. This may also be because I am in a VERY dry climate (less than 10% humidity) but I did thin the paint with water at between 10-20% water added.
@Indylimburg3 жыл бұрын
Mine works great! But yes, prepare for overspray and thin the paint a bit. The overspray can be managed, it's not as bad as you'd think. In the video that guy has the whole floor covered and I'd say that's about right because while spraying upward on the ceiling some of the mist comes down. He only did one strip of the plastic on the wall, I would have done a second for peace of mind, but if you're not sloppy you can manage getting by with that.

Hello Thomas, you are right to achieve a good paint finish, however the paint is applied, preparing the surface is key. If you want the ultimate finish with spraying you do have to make sure the surface if prepared properly. The extra effort in preparation is worth the end result. Kind Regards The WAGNER DIY Team.

Spray one or two or three mist coats over a patch, gradually feathering out the coats. The final coat should cover completely assuming the patch was blended smooth. (Which if not would show no matter how you painted. Well unless you REALLY laid it on thick lol)

I just tried to paint my old wooden fence with my brand new Wagner Flexio 590. The latex/oil base stain sprayed on terribly. I set the air blower indicator to minimum, where it has a fence symbol, indicating the proper setting. hardly any pain reached the fence. I raised the air flow setting to 4, then the paint shot out in drips. I was expecting similar result as an airless sprayer. Can you give me some tips
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom3 жыл бұрын
Hello That does not sound right. It is possible it needs to be cleaned, you can see a guide to cleaning the HVLP sprayer here: 4:57 which has been used with water based paint. Or the paint has some bits in it or you are missing a seal in the nozzle. Take a look at this page www.wagner-group.com/uk/do-it-yourself/service-and-consulting/tips-tricks-for-spraying-paints-and-varnishes/ which has tips on how to use the machine correctly and suggestions if you are having problems and what might be causing them. Doesn’t the paint peel off when pull the masking tape away.
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom Жыл бұрын
Hello Ivor, if you use a tape specifically designed for painting and decorating such as tesa Precision Masking range you will be fine. It's important to try and remove the tape before the paint dries completely. Pull the tape off slowly at a 45-degree angle, pulling it back on itself rather than straight out. This will help reduce the risk of paint pull. Kind Regards WAGNER DIY.

Do I need to add water to thin the emulsion or Can I apply direct to the reservoir? What about base coat plaster paint? Does water need to be added also? Cheers
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom5 жыл бұрын
Hi TeflonDonLeeds, thanks for your request. Thinning may be necessary on smooth surfaces and thick, gel-like materials. Mixing with water is also recommended if the atomisation is too rough or the ink flow rate is too low (even at maximum setting). Detailed information on the individual materials and the maximum permissible dilution can be found on the material manufacturer's technical data sheet (available on the Internet, for example). Best regards Stefan from the WAGNER social media team

Is there a trick for using a masking tape or this one is a special one as when I use mine, the paint is coming off together with tape
@WAGNERUnitedKingdom6 жыл бұрын
Hi PashikTT, make sure to remove the masking tape when the paint is still wet. This will prevent the paint from coming off.
@pyykkipoika74905 жыл бұрын
As Wagner said, peel the tape off when the paint is still wet is the best idea. If the paint has started to dry run a sharp knife along the tape/paint line to score it and it'll come off more cleanly. Also try to pull the tape off at 90 degrees to the wall rather than pulling it back over your painted area, it should help to make a clean separation rather than peeling back the paint. Try not to soak the tape in paint and use it more as a guide for your cutting in lines.
@mrBDeye5 жыл бұрын
Don't use General Purpose masking tape is way to tacky and will peel paint off the wall. Use Painter's Tape.
