Definito dal New York Times come uno dei migliori pianisti viventi, Craig Taborn presenta il terzo progetto come band leader prodotto dall’etichetta Ecm e considerato un vero capolavoro discografico.
Un “onnivoro musicale” totalmente assorbito dalle sue influenze da riuscire a camuffarle in un linguaggio musicale indefinito. In Daylight Ghosts la musicalità e l’attenzione ai dettagli sono ipnotici, come il senso di narrativa compositiva tra le esecuzioni improvvisate”.
Oltre a Taborn al pianoforte e tastiere, il quartetto include due altri due luminari della scena newyorkese: il sassofonista Chris Speed e il contrabbassista Chris Lightcap. Completa la lineup il batterista Dave King (Bad Plus) compagno musicale di Taborn fin dai primi concerti nel Minnesota. Ogni musicista si avvale di un ampio background artistico, con influenze che spaziano dal rock all’elettronica, alla world music. Un insieme di diverse sfumature che confluiscono in un’improvvisazione jazz di altissimo livello con un’esecuzione cristallina.

Lyrical and whimsical reminding me of Keith Jarret back in the day. Great to hear this. I've been a serious listener of jazz piano e.g. Bill Evans, Brubeck, Joe Zawinal (Spelling ?), McCoy Tyner and Chick to name a few others. All big shoes to fill so I'm delighted to hear this for the first time today. "Fresh Air" music review brought me here (FYI). Support Public Radio folks!
