Love the "promote potential not performance" so true, for the reasons given.

The importance of identifying and nurturing high-potential leaders for organizational success - The concept of "high-potential players" (hi-pos) is introduced: individuals with capacity, character, and drive to become future catalytic leaders. - Performance in a current role doesn't necessarily indicate potential for future leadership roles; promoting potential is vital. - Leaders often overlook potential in those who don't exhibit extreme confidence but are humble and have areas of brilliance and extremes.

Great! I appreciate your leadership podcasts! First video I've watched but I've listened to many of them on itunes! Your ministry has helped me and encouraged me to start posting my own thoughts, experiences and knowledge on leadership on my own channel to share with friends and family! How important is emotional intelligence in leadership?

Most administrators I have known don’t have an inability to recognize leadership in other people what they have is an insecurity to recognize it and let it flourish.

What is the balance between not realizing hi potential in yourself but realizing the gifts and/or talents you have? I consider myself gifted to lead. But I wonder if that would disqualify me as a hi-po to someone using this criteria.

This is like buy stock because it did well in past , without seeing if it is for sell . In some organization's though they focus only on weaknesses. Even though you know it's your weakness and don't want to develop, they target that so that you are not allowed to grow higher.. this only demotivates, especially if person knows who he or she is and what she wants to do in her career and what her strengths are... Some insecured bosses use this tactic to keep you down.
