On rough tiling and good tiling. Just have plenty of paper towels to wipe tool clean.

I bought this kit yesterday, I've only ever applied sealant once previously, and I'm not a tradesman at all. As others have said, you're using the profiler the wrong way round it seems. It's a great piece of kit.

Glad it worked for you, I've used it both ways round, still the same problems. Keep using it and see how you get on in different situations 👍

@@rossMIE Mine was spot on in the end. The tiles in my shower are not a flat surface which made it even harder, but I was really chuffed with it. Need to make sure you don't use too much sealant, otherwise you can get in a real mess. Keep practising,👍

@@40thstreetblack73 so was mine mate, I’ve been a kitchen/bathroom fitter for over 30 years, on his vid for a starter, why is he applying silicon on the ceiling to wall joint? The tiles look as pissed as me on a sat night for a start, cut the tiles tight and do a small grout line ffs. The silicon on the worktop looks like a 4 yr old done it, it’s much to large a bead for a start, you silicone before you tile as well, then a small bead will suffice, defo using the wrong way round.

The issues you are facing are more down to your technique than the tool itself. As the saying goes 'a good craftsman never blames his tools!'

Heck, like other comments mention-- sure, he's using it wrong-- but it's 'his' honest review and I found it entertaining. I've never had much luck with these tools, but I suck with just using my finger as well so who am I to talk? I read the directions and I've watched a ton of videos and I still suck. Something about this type of work just doesn't stick with me. Now give me a PC or some windows device and it's on like Donkey Kong! I'll deploy some automation or fix whatever's wrong with it--blind folded! Ask me to caulk your bathtub, and your looking at a disaster of unforetold consequences. I was going to buy this tool, but I think I'll just stick with hiring someone to do the caulking for me.

Thank you. I used these and it came out not great with a smooth counter and subway tile. The worst job I've ever done since my first attempt 40 years ago. I like the idea of a 45° angle for shedding water. It is impossible to get all 3 planes perfect at the same time. I've seen old school guys use a metal spatula tool - on video. On video all these jobs are perfect. I don't even know if they are truly using 100% silicone. If so I don't know what the job looks like after it's dry. A separate problem I'm having is I worked in Hawaii for my professional career and now I'm in the low desert and silicone skins almost instantly it seems. Hot with very low humidity. I can't do a 12 ft. section. By the time I come back to the tool it's setting up. So I tried 2 ft sections and this tool took multiple passes and then trying to join the next section cleanly is impossible because the last section is setting up. Unfortunately, there is an uneven expansion joint and the bead has to be #8. I tried this tool in a smooth short area and it worked fine, no better than a finger with a lubricant on it. I've had better success with smaller beads and short distances. I'm debating a siliconized acrylic which won't hold up as long, but it's easy to remove and redo and doesn't set up and turn into rubber in two minutes. I was amazed you had time in your video. Everyone should use structural metal profiles for joints. www.schluter.com/schluter-us/en_US/Profiles/Cove-shaped-Profiles/Schluter%C2%AE-DILEX-AHK/p/DILEX_AHK Then sealing these would be a thing of the past. I am going to remove this for a second time. If I don't remove every little tiny unseen bit, the silicone will lift at the edge in spots. I have one, 1-inch spot that is naturally behind t faucet where water will get under it and then mold and lift. There is no repairing silicone that I know of. The "tile setter" used un-sanded grout which cracked in a week so I applied silicone -- with my finger and it was great but after 4-5 years it had some light mold that wouldn't clean up. So I thought I'll use this professional tool and get a proper angle on it to shed water so it won't pool in a cove profile from a finger. ng of using the tool again with a #6 (if there is one) if that will cover the joint. Smaller beads obviously tool easier. I just don't know if it's big enough. I should have practiced too. I noticed when I got to my last 3 feet it was pretty good. But trying to use the tool behind the faucet, dishwasher-gap, blade ray hose was difficult. I'm dreading removing all the silicone that the eye can't see until it's razor bladed over and over again. Maybe acetone, but I'm hesitant to use that on a manufactured quartz countertop and I've read most chemicals won't strip it clean anyway. Note: I've read about Flexible Grout that sounds interesting, however, I don't know if it works in this application. I feel you. frustration. My neck will never be the same after this.

Thanks for your comment. I think we all have these types of issues, not the heat one here in the UK obviously! I've found wd4 to be the best at removing it, better than the actual silicon removal products I've used, but not ideal in all settings, like on wood surfaces for exams. Good luck with your projects my friend 👍

@@amazeballs1549, it depends on your grout. If you have too big a dip, it'll be a problem. You can try padding the dip with tape.

1. Youre usint it wrong way 2. The ceiling joint isnt a true 90 degrees so thats why theres smearing. You can get ones rhat are different angles for areas that arent 90 degrees. Eveb then you can cleaj the residue up with tje flat side of the tool 3. Grour joints are tricky sns arent going to look great regardless what method you use 4. You have to make sure the silicone doesnt start to skin at all or it wont be a smooth finish. Have to be quick with it
