Supposing you're not still with us, I'm glad to have come upon this fragment and to have known even the tinniest bit of the depth of who you were. It may have been faint, but you touched at least some lives here, and I'm certain you left more than a passing imprint on those who loved you dearly and more fiercely than words can convey. All this is a testament to the fact that you lived, that you were a human being, and that all that mattered in the end. May God keep you well and close. And, if you're still with us, keep on fighting, and may we yet see you victorious.

@angel-nv7jk4 жыл бұрын
I always interpret the song as a ww1 soldier suffering from PTSD and is haunted by the memories long after the battles have ended. He laments about future wars and how it is "The same old thing, since 1916". The "zombies" were just the people dying over and over again in his head and the word 'zombie' could also refer to the soldier himself. Living life as someone who seen death and is practically already dead himself (in a mental, emotional, and spiritual sense).

This was inspired by the IRA bombing in Warrington, Cheshire in 1993. Two children, Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry, were killed. The IRA (The Irish Republican Army) is a militant group determined to remove British troops from Northern Ireland. Lead singer Dolores O'Riordan claimed that "Zombie" speaks about "The Irish fight for independence that seems to last forever." The lyrics even say, "It's the same old theme since 1916." Like the responsive works of Yeats, Heaney and U2, the Cranberries claim they wrote "Zombie" to be a "Song for peace, peace among England and Ireland." On August 31, 1994, just a few weeks after this song was released, the IRA declared a ceasefire after 25 years of conflict, leading some critics of The Cranberries to wonder if the IRA was willing to call a truce to make sure the group didn't release any more songs about them.

Read this if you have ever felt alone, depressed, suicidal, lost, scared, worthless, abandoned, or anything of that nature, this is for you You Are Beautiful. You Are Wanted. You Are Wonderful. Don't quit on yourself. Don't hurt yourself. You are worth the world and nobody wants to see you suffering. This is not the end. The way you feel right now will pass. Peoples minds will change. Things WILL get better. We love you and are always here for you. Do NOT do something permanent, something temporary. You're better than that. All stars need to see darkness before the light. And always remember, Don't change so people will like you. Be yourself & the right people will find and love the real you. Your own unique Mindset always trys to engage in the right ways Now read the first letter of every word You Matter! no matter what other people may say. Always know this is true. It helps. Thanks for the laugh, OP. Snark and comedy are my family's most potent coping methods. One of the most important and brutal lessons I've learned in my life is that I need to take time to laugh, for melancholy is such an easy trap for people like me that I sometimes don't notice I've fallen into it again. And a lot of people in the replies need to take a deep breath and think about life. If you cope differently with stress and trauma, that's fine, just lay off those of us who need to laugh while we mourn. I'd hate to be so serious that I wouldn't make dark jokes.

I love her voice, her accent, and the song itself. But the lyrics, are so much more. make the song itself mean so much more when you listen to the lyrics and not the beat. It makes your brain think. About what the song is about. I found out recently and it made me cry. So many people my age don't care at all about things like that. Nowadays they just care about being popular. They don't realize that more things happen than they think. I'm honestly worried for the sake of the world because the people in the world right now seem to get worse and worse as the years pass. We claim to have advanced greatly but only in technology. But people themselves have mostly lost sight of what's important. It can be good to only remember the good things for one moment. But come to reality. This song just proves that more things happen than people seem to care about.

This song still breaks my heart. As long as we hide from the truth of the horrors of war, we'll be nothing more than zombies following blindly under the words of those who seen to profit off of suffering. War is a monster unlike any other, and the fact that people still defend the idea of it under the guise of "protection" and "order" is disgusting. I loathe paying taxes only because i know most of them go into perpetuating these battles rather than constructive things, such as programs for the needy and educating our society.

The IRA (Irish Republican Army) is a militant group that was determined to remove British troops from Northern Ireland. Lead singer Dolores O'Riordan claimed that "Zombie" speaks about "the Irish fight for independence that seems to last forever." The lyrics even say, "It's the same old theme since 1916."

FoughtStatue No, I looked it up on Wikipedia because I wanted to know what was the meaning behind the song ! Sunday Bloody Sunday was a U-2 song from back in 1982 maybe that's what you're talking about my friend, I'm sure U-2's Sunday Bloody Sunday had something to do with what you said ? Anyway you have a great night !

FoughtStatue Are you Irish ? My Grandfather was from Ireland, but I know how much the Irish people don't like it when an American says he's Irish through his ansestors ! But when someone asks me what are you I say Irish lol, because when asked that question they really mean where did you're ansestors came from, my Grandmother was from Scottland, so all my ansestors came from somewhere in the UK.... Peace my brother...
@foughtstatue10235 жыл бұрын
Ken Bray Yeah I think you’re right. I just usually think songs about the Irish and uprisings and things like that are about that Sunday. Also I am not Irish but my ancestors are Irish. Also have some English and German(apparently I’m related to some English kings so that is cool)

This is my mom’s favorite song, she used to play it for me when I was 4 or 5 and everytime we listened to music she would always play this for me, of course, that was before I grew up, my family isn’t too fond of me anymore and expresses that very well, I miss the simpler times when I didn’t realize how much of an addict my mom is, and how I picked up that gene, looking back at it all I never had a good childhood, it was very traumatic but now I realize that, I realize I never got what I needed, attention and whatever, though I’m still very young, I feel like I don’t have that much time left. This song also reminds me of the feeling I get when I know something is about to go wrong, the beat shows it completely, and the words I relate to in a way, but this song really just reminds me of my childhood
