Fun fact with dragon fruit! It's an amazing emulsifier - that means it can keep other ingredients combined when blended- and is part of why you'll see it used in a lot of things like smoothies and other drinks. It does give you good benefits and just lacks any real kind of taste.

I'm convinced they just need to have the regular uncanned versions of all the canned fruits they had because rambutan and longan are my favs and I've tried jackfruit before and liked it but never had the canned versions and the way they described the jackfruit texture seems very different and I'm sure they were all a bit softer/mushier than normal.

I didn’t realise my upbringing in Australia was so tropical until now. We have all these fruits at our local supermarkets. You have to have these fresh to get the authentic experience. Those tinned fruits were probably not at all what they are supposed to be, same with the persimmons. The texture gets changed so much and makes it all metallic

I have ADHD and ASD, but instead of being food sensitive like you might expect I’m actually the kind of person who will eat anything. I’ve found a lot of cool exotic fruit that way. Lychee, rambutan, loquats, and soursop/sugarapple are my favorite. I also tried something recently I don’t even know the name of and it was the weirdest fruit I’ve ever eaten. It was kind of oval shaped, and had hard bright orange skin that you can crack off. Then inside there’s like this weird alien looking pouch, and when you cut into it there are yellow seeds. Kind of like a pomegranate but yellow. It tasted really good though. Like pineapple candy. Sometimes I can’t even believe this kind of stuff exists on earth. It’s so weird.

i think a good starter fruit are sharon persimmons, you can get them in p much any asian store and you can eat them when still firm. theyre pretty sweet and have good flavor imo :)

This went off the rails immediately and I am so here for it. My experience of durian was that it both tasted and smelled like a dumpster full of garlic, mango, and asafetida which is sort of sulfurous. Out of these, fresh perfectly ripe lychee is the best IMO.

I never tasted any tinned rambutan or jack-fruit but I can guarantee that they both taste better fresh. The durian? I think it's unripe. We give out fine to those who sell unripe durian. About the taste, even the local divided between love and hate. There's no in between. To me, I LOVE them. Come to any country in southeast Asia for those hehe

In terms of exoticness, I could probably find most if not all of those fruit easily in a chinese supermarket. There are definetely weirder fruits I could find in a chinese or asian supermarket and there are many more countries that have uncommon fruit.

Hot tip. A VAST majority of edged weapons sold commercially, are required to be sold with an unsharpened (even if it’s tapered) blade. You need to research what you’re buying, if you intend to sharpen it yourself, to make sure the weapon can actually withstand sharpening.
