Crankin' Tennessee River Smallmouth

What a day to be crankbait fishing, started out going for a 5 lb smallmouth and getting really close using a spro rock crawler. Cruising down the Tennessee river and came upon a boat flipped upside down half sunk.

Always put the plug inside the boat. This way if the plug comes out, it is in the boat and can be recovered to put back in.

I'm guessing that you fished in this video, just 2-3 days before that Super-Strong Arctic Cold Front went through the Eastern part of the United States. Man! That Front made ya feel like you were walking into a huge open-air Freezer! I'll never forget that, as long as I live!

That looks like the kind of boat they rent out at marinas with the 9 hp motor. There was a fuel tank in it that floated off. Something had been painted on the bow at one time but unless you can actually read it it isn’t much use. Lots of places sell those boats after a number of years so it could have been years since it was last registered. It might have been in storage and washed away in high water. Most will have the HIN stamped into the transom somewhere but it may take a lot of careful searching to find it and it may require a rubbing to read it, if it’s even possible. Those boats are great and are almost unsinkable. We had fun with one like that for years.

An unexpected fishing trip for the books. A little slow on the fishing, but still managed a nice smallie. Then, to wind up catching a boat, that's a new one. I suggest investing a little time and money. Make sure all the seams are tight and leak proof, a little elbow grease to polish it back out, then sell it. You could get several hundred for it, which could go along way to covering your tournament fees this coming year.

John if like to catch crappie. That boat would perfect for a little city lake down here in Ga. At Lafatte Ga, just 15 to 20 miles south of Ringgold Ga. May not have gotten that five pound smallie but got an awesome 10 foot boat for sure sir. And sir your awesome for calling and making sure what to do and I mean hope you get some good uses out of it. I wished I had an awesome little boat like that for me and my three kiddos to fish out of for sure sir. I mean we had all of are fishing stuff stolen from us a while back and could use anything to help my kiddos get back to fishing. I'm a stay at home dad cause my wife there mom has narcolepsy so I stay home to help her out and it hard living months to months off what she makes. I mean I do any side job's I can to help out but never seem to be able to save to get them some new heck even used fishing stuff they don't care they just love to fish. We live on a lake and we can fish when ever but it hard when we're all sharing two rods and reels and what little tackle we have lol but we do the best we can. Sir I want you to know how much of a blessing you are to my family and me I mean you have help me to get back close to our God and it is so awesome to see how much he can do for us. Sir keep up the awesome work and can't wait to see what you do with that free boat. I live In Alabama not far from you lol. But sir till the next's one GodBless and Tight Lines. There should be a serial number somewhere on the transom of that boat you can run with license authority.

If there were an ID tag on the boat it would be on the right rear of the transom looking from the rear . It would be a riveted metal tag about 6" down from the top of the transom .

A gamefisher is a old Sears boat. if it was built before 1970-71 there will not be a ser number on it. I have a Sears gamefisher 10ft jon boat and it don't have any numbers are makings on it anywhere. Georgia DNR told me if it was built before70-71 it did not have to have a ser number on it.

No numbers on the boat cheap gas tank cut from outboard either used for running moonshine or drugs. Easy to cut and run if the law get after you. Most likely moonshiners.

That boat had numbers on it ! I saw them when you were flipping it over. Not all the numbers were there on that side. Some were missing . You did not show the other side of the Front gunnel ,which should also have registration numbers. Then you hid the numbers or removed them, when the boat was in the back of the truck. Why would you do that? Why would you do that? IF You were actually talking to a state agency on that call, and there were, or are registration numbers painted ON THAT BOAT. And you said there were none, they have a name for that. It does not belong to you. Put an ad in the paper, give it to a charity, it is tainted. SHAME on you.
