I had a question that I really hope you can answer!🙏🏽 I have a 1996 Geo tracker and it came stock with no a/c, so I found a 1995 with ac and took all the components out to swap into my 96, and I ran into a problem... I was told I was Gona be able to hook all the wires up but there’s no hvac🤦🏼‍♂️ and now I need to search junk yards or search the inter web for a wiring harness for my ac🥺 and here in Hawaii it’s hot all year long so this would be a nice upgrade

Mine (B18C1 GS-R) doesn’t look that bad but the space looks worn out, edges aren’t crisp. The key itself is pretty chewed up though. My issue is the crankshaft bolt came loose and wallowed out the harmonic balancer key way and the key way on the crankshaft

dude put some oil /cooking spray on the crank pin, this will allow you to pull it out once the epoxy is hardened also the lock tight is enough on the bolt 🔩

Sometimes you can physically see the crank pulley is wobbling. Symptoms you may notice from the engine will be a misfire code or extreme loss of power. The vehicle idle well but have no power throughout the RPM range until you reach 5000 RPM then it will pick up slightly

@@Hwy83SUZUKI These were exactly my symptoms! In more detail - it felt like it was slow to shift gears, I just assumed it was because it's an older car and I'm coming from a Civic. But then one day it started downshifting constantly when it used to coast nicely in 2nd or 3rd (I have an automatic). Then all of the sudden it just would not get into first from idle. If I feathered the gas I was able to get it to catch and it would roll a bit. Hoping this solution works for me, thank you for the video!

The key is not being JB welded in. The JB weld is used to fill the void.

Can anyone help me with something? My 90 sidekick starts great and idles a little high as it warms up but after a minute or so the isle goes crazy. It gets really high and then cuts out but before it stops turning it kicks in again and starts to rev up again followed by it cutting out again. Looking down the TB I can actually see the injector spraying fuel and it just stops and starts and stops and starts. It has an even rhythm and if I depress the throttle the rpm goes up and the frequency of the cut out cycles faster. I've changed the throttle position sensor and injector, cleaned the Pcv. Any thoughts?

So I’m running into an issue with my tracker 1.6l 16v with getting the crank gear off to replace the seal. I tried reinstalling the old timing belt and putting a screw driver through the timing gear and it just broke the belt. I even went and bought a new impact and hammered on it and I can’t get the thing to come loose. I was about to get a monkey wrench and then I thought “ I wonder what highway 83 would do. Any advice would be appreciated

An impact gun almost always rips the crank bolt off. If not adding heat will do the trick. Last technique would be a long breaker bar and rotate the engine until the bar is resting on the driver frame rail, then bump the key to spin the starter, the engine will turn and break the bolt free

I did it, very hard never used JB weld, I used a thicker key and made what they call a 2 point key. Bottom part that fill the gap and then the upper portion on the correct time position!

If it's a 5 speed you can leave the transmission in gear and put chock on wheel.

I made a wrench that bolts to an adjacent bolt ( alternator) and hold the other end with the crank pulley, then tighten the bolt ! That wrench safe my engine !

It lets the key be too lose so this ends up a raping/damaging the crankshaft AND the pulley. So the pulley ends up wobbling, which can lead to more parts getting damaged, eg the crankshaft and the engine internals In my case I spotted a wobbly pulley, stripped it down get get a good look, turned out it was just like this guy said, the crankshaft had damage that needed filled, so that the keyway stays still and stops causing havoc.

The funniest thing about this too me is that the bolt needs to be torqued to 94fpt. The engine doesn't even make enough torque to tighten its own crank bolt.

Why not just use some tig weld in there, just make sure it cools between layers.?

Yes absolutely, during the video I mention some guys do fill in the void with an actual Weld and grind it smooth. Although the majority of Geo Tracker owners are either new to working on vehicles and or not experienced enough to tackle a proper weld in this circumstance. So this is a simple tried-and-true method that has worked over the years.

If anyone tries this you might want to use a dissimilar metal key like aluminum so the weld doesn't stick to it.

You realize JB Weld Is just epoxy. Im pretty sure thats not going to work. It needs to be welded.

This process works 100% and has saved countless engines. The epoxy is just filling the void. The loctite sleeve retainer is the key & does an amazing job on areas of lost tolerances. With the final torque to 94 pounds we've never had a failure with this procedure 😀👍
