"Well, what do you know. It's a giant spider." In the days when game narrators had little patience for player stupidity.

Good old Uninvited. I keep finding myself coming back to this old gem somehow and the nostalgia hits each time.

The previous Shadowgate deaths video had a processing error that changed it from 1080p to 144p. I don't know if that'll repeat with this video but if it does I'll see what can be done to fix it. Thanks and enjoy the video!

no issues on my end, looks good!

this is something that youtube does with early uploads. within the first few hours of the video being uploaded it'll not be in HD, this is because youtube processes the video twice when you upload it, once for lower resolutions and once for hd and 4k. Just wait for that hour to pass and the process should be done and your video will be in hd in no time. Btw the previous shadowgate video is in HD now so no worries anymore.

Is that why you’re (re)uploading these vids? I swore you already did these. (shrugs) Was also wondering if these were inspired by the Kickstarter campaign for Beyond Shadowgate.

@@civilwildman I've uploaded the Macventure deaths but not the NES ones. I've opted to do so with the Beyond Shadowgate kickstarter being out.

If I learned anything about such "die for every ending-" games, it is 1: Even the stupiest way of passing on will be used 2: Protags are usually weak as a wet noodle

Interestingly enough, this game doesn't have a time limit like the PC versions. The ruby is what causes it to happen. And you can just drop it in the backyard to prevent the timing from completing.

Of the MacVenture games, this is the only one I have yet to play. I’ve played the McIntosh, NES and 2014 Steam ports of Shadowgate, the NES version I beat in 14 minutes, the last time I played it. Deja Vu I’ve only played the McIntosh version. That took a day or so.

"The screaming apparition's misty form engulfs you, and you become covered in a thick, sticky, goo." OH GOD PLEASE NO, ANYTHING BUT THA... "It's acid!!!" Oh thank god, that was a close one. Btw, that game over music is surprisingly catchy. I remember Macintosh ver. being much meaner and more snarky lol. Practically all deaths have a bit more detailed and "gory" descriptions, that damn time limit that was thankfully changed here into a trap item Ruby, and even more ways to die by breaking the windows and cutting your hand, smashing laboratory equipment which lead to scratching your own skin off, and also minor variations of the same deaths, like with the final boss where you can kill your sibling (which you've mentioned in the description) or try to eat it lol (also, lone zombie and zombie horde, unlike NES ver, have different messages, and in the latter they compare you to a diner table and the zombies to the guests that just don't want to leave, ew)

I compiled the Macventure deaths too, although there are surprisingly a large number of obscure ones. My favorite in Uninvited is breaking one of the windows and going through it to try and escape and it tells you that you drag yourself over the broken glass and die.

Interesting how the spider has two humanoid eyes rather than the cluster of eyes you see on a real spider, also, that's way bigger than a bread box. More like the size of a trampoline lol.

I do enjoy this game, especially for some of its snark, but some of the puzzle solutions are really obtuse. (Like, the infamous thing with the spider and the servant.) I don't know if that demon at the end's presence is ever even foreshadowed. The close-ups still to this day freak me out. The music they play in the NES version makes it even worse. It's pretty memorable in that way! I'd say this is easily the better version, especially if you don't want to worry about the time limit from the PC version.

They treated the change from a younger brother to an older sister so strange. Some of the text can seem... gender preferency The demon at the end uses the same text calling your sibbling little and weak and you have a better more capable body. Makes sense with your younger brother on mac but the text is the same with your older sister on the nes.
