If you can't find a longer throttle cable, go to a bicycle or motorcycle shop and have them make a custom cable. Here in the US bike shops have cable and outer sheathing on rolls, so any length can be custom made. The can also put the "lug" on the end that attaches to the accelerator pedal. Love you videos!

Interesting, thank you, I investigated getting a custom cable made up, I was quoted AU$200 and I would have to wait 2 weeks, this was actually the tipping point to put the HIF Carby’s back on. Thanks for the feedback 👍

Glad I didn’t disappoint you. Never have I felt so relieved completing a repair, and that was just one small section of the restoration. Thanks Pete

Your MGB is looking awesome. It truly has been crap to cream. I've watched many Aussie and Brits videos and had to look up what a dizzy is. I could not figure out what a bit is until you pointed out the thingamajig on the Weber. Us Yanks usually have more specific and accurate names for parts. Like whatsit, piece, thing and part. 🤣 Since I've started on my own MGB restore I've watched a ton of Australian and English videos on MGBs and have had to learn a whole new vocabulary. All kidding aside Your MGB is coming together nicely. It will be quite an accomplishment when you've finished. Can't wait to see you showcase it.👍+

Morning Raul, thank you very much for the feedback, it’s comments like yours that spur me on to the next step and give a feeling that it’s all worthwhile. Good luck with your own resto. Cheers Marty

I note that you have the side draft Webber carburetors installed on your car. I have had both the Webber like yours and the original SU Carburetors that were used on MGBs in the early 70s. I much preferred the SU HIF4 carburetors. The Webbers were used on the racing MGBs and do not like low RPMs. They were not designed for normal low RPM driving. The SU are perfect for everyday driving. I took my Webbers off and put the SU back on and the car ran much better and the fuel economy improved too. By the way I have owned my car for 33 years now.

Thank you for the insight, a couple of others have mentioned the same thing. I've still got my HIF carburetors, they've been overhauled and are ready to go. I thought I would give the DCOE a go and just see what the car feels and goes like. Definitely not building a racing machine, right now just be happy to keep moving and complete the project. I believe I'll be back on the HIF's after I've finished and driven the B for a while by all accounts.

Hi Martyn, Been watching your videos with interest. The finished vehicle is going to be a credit to your hard work! I thought I would give you some feedback on your engine height as I finished restoring my 1977 roadster last year. I've stretched a string line over the wing gutters (closest edge to the engine bay, not on the rubber) on each wing as close as I can get to the front edge of the rocker cover. From the string line to the top of the flutes on the rocker cover (I have the same one as yours) is 1/2 inch (12mm). Hope this makes sense? Can't remember if I had the studs on the mount upwards or downwards, as you say they can be put in two ways. All I did was look at the old ones I took out and replicated what had been done before. Look forward to your next update. Awesome colour BTW.

Hi Carsten, The measurement you have taken and how you took the measurement makes perfect sense. I was wondering what someone would come up with, great thank you. Also greatly appreciate the feedback on all aspects.

Hi Carsten, I can confirm mine is from the string line to the top of the R/C is approx 14mm so I would say if the mounts were the wrong way round the difference would be significantly more…… assume you agree.

Hi Martyn, Yes totally agree. The mounts do deform permanently under the weight of the engine over a period of time so the engine will drop ever so slightly more.
