I'm thrilled to have your video be my first comment ever on KZbin. Your tips are, without a doubt, the only reason I've been able to start catching crappie. Lifetime fisherman, first time crappie catcher, devoted fan.

Don't ever change, Machine. You're the best fisherman on youtube BECAUSE you're "Old Timey" -- you just plain catch 'em because you understand "fish psychology" and that only comes with experience and trial and error -- I just love your content. 🙂

Eric - I see you've taken the initiative to question the thumbs downers. Give em heck. There shouldn't be a single person alive allowed to thumbs down the machine. A thumbs down is about equivalent to kicking a puppy. Only a miserable, heartless son-of-a-gun would ever consider such a thing.

Richard, one of the most enjoyable ways I catch spring crappie is with an original floating rapala in silver and red. I use a slow retrieve jerking the bait and then letting it sit for a second. It drives the fish crazy and they will jump straight up out of the water for it. Give it a try.

I've been using a modern Mitchell 308 xe for the last 10 years. Its on a 4.5 ft ugly stick , spooled with 8lb line. I use it 300 days a year and its still like new (functionality wise). Ive bought a couple other Mitchells since and they hold special place with me. Quality that's affordable is rare. Good stuff old man! I'm going fishin.
