Once again, great video Rob. Next time you filet a pan fish with the electric knife, give this a try. Cut down to the tail and leave the last little bit of skin attached. Flip the filet back over the tail and then cut the skin off. It is so much easier to hold on to. Let me know what you think of this method.

Rob when I was a teenager last century I worked at a public pool and boat rental. After we closed at night we would fish for crappie and blue gill off the boat dock. wWe fished under a floodlight and it did draw fish if we moved out of the light we didn't catch nearly as many fish. The pool was on Lake Oswego in Oregon. It is long gone now they built an apartment complex on the property. A great memory.

I’ve been watching this channel sense I was 16 now I’m 23, every time I click on your video I feel happy and loved, just the absolute best channel. I have a quick story. I was the biggest fan when I was 16, I believed in everything you said, I forced my dad to buy Everglades seasoning and sadly my whole family didn’t like it. I got laughed at for it and it’s still a family story to this day because I was so confident it was going to be a hit. The funny thing though, is I tried Everglades cactus dust, and fell in love. I’ll never cook a steak without it. And now my whole family uses it on steak. That’s my story. Love your channel always have, have a blessed day!

We was in Blackshear, Ga. We’d caught a bunch of nice catfish and you started cleaning the fish with Tommy Howell’s electric knife he offered but didn’t tell us how quickly it can cut to the bone ! You cut your thumb really bad! But it did not stall you out at all. So if you use a electric knife which Walt & I do, be CAREFUL! Once you get the hang of it you will be fileting your fish left & right so quick! . So many great memories together, so Grateful/Thankful for our Family 🙏♥️💪. Hey Robert. I've been fishing, SCUBA and spearfishing for over 75 years, California, east coast, and Baja, so I'm just saying I have some cred's. When you fillet a fish, DON'T cut through the tail. Stop a little short, flip-[ the fillet over and remove the fillet from the skin. A lot easier and you don't have to worry about hanging on to the fillet... it's still attached to the carcass. Rick

Spent a few winters in Florida, during the off season of logging in southeastern Alaska. Snowbirding it. Camping, killing food and scuba stuff. From Playlinda beach, to Jimmy Buffets Margaritas on Key West. On one of the many lakes around Orlando, I hooked a monster crappie. It wrapped around a log and I started peeling off my shirt to dive in and save it. But the cousin of my buddy said not to. A life long Floridian and a excellent angler. Because gators are crawling along the bottom. Still wanted to though. What choo think, Deer meat? c1987. We did help kill a gator, delicious, and killed several feral hogs, with spears made by Randle Made. Orlando Florida. Ordered them 2 years earlier. $300 each. Ash hafts. What a rush. Cooked on the beach overnight by a Hawaiian friend. We were the crazy Alaskan loggers. Me and Scott were both high climbers, topping and rigging trees 175 feet tall. So naturally we had to go native in Florida and climb up those coconut trees to get coconuts. We thought it would be a familiar sight, but no, a hundred or more people gathered around to watch two wild men, scampering up 75 feet to twist and twist off coconuts. Have you ever seen that? Again, c1980s.

Clean them and cook them hole on a wood grill slow about 10&15min on each side till skin starts to Brown and dry out. Skin falls off and bones pull out....... Nothing but meat. How sweet it is. Blue Gill also.......😎✌️. Those look great. Will definitely try. Above is a fast tailgate treat.....

11:34 In East Texas they are called White Perch. Try this in heavy brush cover. Take a 1/8 inch welding rod. Beat all the flux off of it. Flatten each end with a hammer. Drill a small hole in each end and smooth out the edges so it doesn't cut your line. Tie your line to one end of the rod. The tie your hook to the other end with only a 2 or three inch leader. Bait the hook with a minjow and drop it into a tree structure. The rod is plenty of weight and the 2 inch leader will keep the crappie from wrapping your line around a tree limb which is their first defensive move. If you fish for crappie in heavy brush this method will increase your catch to bite ratio by 1000%. Edit: this method does not work for any kind of casting. It is for l9ng pole bait dropping into structure. It should work great in some of the fishing I've seen DMFD and Bluegabe.
