I saw a couple of your videos but.....WOW this Crappie 101 turned me into a SUBSCRIBER - I have NEVER seen anyone so accurate and such great content. I fish in the Florida, Tampa Bay area - gulf and fresh water. (I'm the one with dark hair) ! ! I am also a real estate broker and instructor and "I truly recommend your video" to anyone serious about fishing. Your teaching skills are very professional, very clear and soft pace for anyone to follow. You've got a BIG FAN here. I fish from piers, docks, and I wade in skinny water. My preferred species are Mangrove Snappers, Sheepheads, Reds - Blue Gills and Crappies. TK YOU for your time & love your work ! !

Im new to florida, and havent been fishing in well over 10 years, so using your videos as tutorials really has me feeling confident in getting back into it. Where im originally from(not idaho) we woukd just dig up our own worms, or bug and use them, so i have no idea on bait . So this is helpful in giving me an idea on what to use.

I mostly fish for largemouth & striper but I will fish for crappie if I come across them. I just finally added electronics to my kayak after 9yrs. So I've been finding them a lot more lately. Just recently got access to small private lake that no one fishes in. It's packed fun of 14-25" crappie

I got four of em up north in lake sabego, ME All with a $1 Walmart fly spinner. I used a 1/4 oz line weight in 4feet of water.... Let the fly sink to about 2 feet.. reeled slow, no stopping.. .. took 20 minutes from my canoe.... Lol. So I agree. They bite about anything. Dumb, dumb fish

Funny you say that. I have never caught crappie on live bait, but do good with lures. However my little brother has stood right next to me and just landed crappie after crappie on minnows laughing at me not catching so much as a cold using minnows.

Hi! Great explanation - I love seeing your YT channel grow and grow. Just as an idea for another vid: If you have a certain water condition, also sun makes an influence - therefore (and I am sure you do), you could explain how you select lure colors e.g. "clear water and sun" vs. "clear water and cloudy". Keep fishing!

I've had other BPM baits kzbin.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Hey Southern, Ive got a question for further clarification; so I'm new to fishing this is about to be my fourth run out and I'm looking at bass, crappie, and bluegill. Where specifically do I find the crappie at? Towards the shore in the lake? In deep grass? Etc... I'd really appreciate some ideas, thanks!

If you want a cheap option with a super sharp and longer hook than the moon eye, check out Kalins crappie jigs. Wire keeper and comes in different colors and sizes and much cheaper than the vmc but also lighter. I throw the vmc when it’s windy and I need a little more weight.

I don’t target crappie in moving water but I would go with a heavier jig until you find the size that gets your lure down to the depth you need it to be.

I love catching crappie, I only do well on a handful of lakes though. No where near the level of the guys that really know crappie. Years ago a guy showed me a trick, he caught one and pulled a piece off of it and it kinda looked like a frog in the water. Can’t remember what he did exactly.
