+Sun Tzu: imho it could be easily 3K€ or even more: the Intellijel Metropolis alone is ~620€, the Verbos Osc around 700, plus the case, plus cables, plus what else he got in there... but looks and sounds really tempting... xD

I am amazed at the amount of kids from keyboard hating rock bands that become synth freaks. I think it was the endless search for distorting the signal. Thanks for a great introductory talk Scott.

Man, is this a class of some sort!? Seriously, I have done "music technology" education in Scotland for five years now, half way through my masters. I would give my right leg to have had classes/tutors like this throughout. Don't get me wrong, we have some good classes too, but this is seriously dope. Props to this guy, that's how you inspire the next generation to make real electronic music and sound design. COOOL!!

Just finished at Glasgow School of Art, I did my degree at Abertay Uni in Dundee and College at Edinburgh College. Would recommend them all, but in particular Abertay is a really great uni and you will get some excellent opportunities during the course. And despite my last comment, the tutors are great too, we just didn't have bad ass modular synth classes! And it is a shame because now Im having to spend my money on all this sick gear instead of student loan :'D Hope you find something good though, check UWC, Perth and Napier too, they all do good music tech etc courses.

Lots of very helpful information, yet leaves me thinking that as a "class" this could be much more involving, and helpful to the users with a proper camera placed on the modular. It not fair that they've just gotta sit there listening to him talk.

This was a non-mandatory, after hours fun class. At the time, we didn't have multi-camera setup. Since this video, we have obtained a go-pro for overhead capture that can be fed to a big screen projector. Again, this was a chill, after hours session regarding my outside hobby/ passion. Definitely not a typical class at the school. Hope that clarifies :)

At 13:28 Scott does something you should NEVER do with a modular synth. He has open spaces in his rack without anything covering the open space, exposing the electronic circuitry and power supply behind the modules. At 13:28, he drops an end of a connected patch cable into the opening...very dangerous. You can easily fry one or more modules, or yourself. If you're just getting started, don't forget to read up on the safety risks of modular synths.

To me it sounds that the audio of the video is not properly mixed. To be exact, pan thing, if you know what I mean. Anyway, it's really a shame and I can't keep watching (actually listening). I wonder if there's anyone who agrees with me (actually precisely I'm more interested to know if there's any other who has the same trouble). Maybe it has something to do with that the lecturer does not face straight to the camera/the audience of the video.
