Glad you mentioned the 67 extra 260. What a knife edge monster that plane is, so neutral in all attitudes.

It sure is… I really like that plane. It was mine but my buddy wanted it. At least I still get to fly it lol

hey matt! my wife was the lucky winner of the radio master tx!! just wanted to say thank you for what you do and it’s always a pleasure getting notified when you post! Can’t wait for it to come in so we can buddy box with it!

Hi Danny, thats awesome! I posted it yesterday so hopefully it wont take too long. I hope the buddy box works well for you both. thanks for commenting, and watching!

Thank you for sharing how you did the repairs. So it was all about some cyano and epoxy, with no wood work at all. Well done. 👏
@MattTakharRC23 күн бұрын
Exactly that. No extra wood or bracing needed on this crash. It went back together really easily and well. I’ve flown it a number of times since with no issues. 👍🏽

Really good video Matt. Showing everything we want to see. Good show! Edit: It's great you're happy with the gyro. I have a couple "larger" planes (67 and 74) with gyros. It was kind of fun to see the snap stops at the point rolls, but I found I usually left it turned off. So instead of spending the money on AS3X I decided to spend the extra money on receivers with dual antennas. It made sense for me because I was getting more frame losses than I was comfortable with.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the video. I go for dual RX in anything around 90" size and above, it's down to preference really. All my RX's have dual antennas on them, really not worth risking it. I did by a micro RX recently (one antenna) for an indoor model (Clik 25) but have yet to put it in as you need to solder the servos directly.

hahahaha the funny bit is I actually got excited as to which gyro you would fit !!?????? Forgetting its in the title ! Nice presentation !

Haha thanks for the feedback. I was tempted to create a comparison between the three gyros I have. Hobby Eagle, Futaba GYA553 and Advanced Radio SF10 - 3 completely different price points too!

@@MattTakharRC you should try the As3x Plus , I am impressed !

Just come across ypur channel! Thanks for the vid! Im also from the Uk and fly these hobbyeagle gyros...great value! Whereabouts do you fly? Nice field!

Great! I run a club with a buddy in Hampshire, not too far from Petersfield. The gyro is super cheap and works well! I’ll be creating a new video covering all the flight modes, when I can ❄️

That's strange. I have about 40ish flights on mine, and it doesn't have coupling issues. I have an As3x Rx in mine. I think my Gains are very low. Around 25/30 percent. I fly with it off mostly, but I do use it on windy days. The planes is super light and gets pushed all around by the wind,,,,but it's a 3d monster:)

It is a cool plane. My gains are about the same, I also have it so I can turn it off in flight etc. I'm lucky that I can leave my Edge fully assembled in my van, which is great for this time of year when its often raining!

Matt, I have this gyro in my EF Extra and when I put it into Lock mode when in knife edge I don’t see that it is holding it. I have the gain set to a knob and as you have my total gain is 30%. What am I doing wrong?
@MattTakharRC23 күн бұрын
Hi. I’ve not tried lock mode yet on this gyro, I have on others. I’ll get it configured for next time I fly. It sounds like it isn’t engaging at all. Have you definitely configured it to the switch?
@fierceflyer523 күн бұрын
@@MattTakharRCyes, it’s on a 3 position switch, programmed with my laptop and the gyro color changes with each position. I even tested all surfaces operated in the correct direction. Gyro was configured for level as well as hover, even though I don’t have a hover switch. Another channel that reviewed made it seem as if you switch into level mode put the plane in KE and let go of the sticks. Mine drops the nose. All I really want is for the gyro to keep it from rolling or pushing or pulling. Or at least take some of the workload away.
@MattTakharRC22 күн бұрын
@@fierceflyer5that’s exactly how it should work. On my GYA553 I can go into knife edge and take my hands off the sticks, it will stay locked in. I’ll give it a go on this gyro. I want to do a follow up video covering all the modes, I think it will be useful.

Only old fossils are against gyros. It’s a shame
@MattTakharRC23 күн бұрын
It does feel like it’s an “old” thing. I was honest in saying I was dead against it until I tried it.
@generalaviationairportsmad591922 күн бұрын
Looks to me like your angle of attack was too high (in regards to the relative airflow). Gyro won’t fix that
@MattTakharRC21 күн бұрын
Agreed, it was may fault. A gyro may have helped keep things more locked in, but I was going too slow.
