Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled: Hyper Spaceway Speed Technique! (USF/Blue Fire)

Results in about 40 second laps if done well!
By taking advantage of the max speed turbo ramps at various parts of the level, if you do power slide turbo boosts in midair and again upon landing, you can maintain massive amounts of speed and momentum that can carry you almost through the whole level! Assuming you don't hit a wall, which is quite hard at this speed.
You can do this speed preservation (which the community calls Blue Fire, I believe) in many levels, however in this one it feels unintentional because ordinarily your boost runs out just as you touch the ground, so you can't chain turbos fast enough. By getting around this issue, by doing boosts in midair, man, you really go flying :P
By the way, can I just say that watching World Records and whatnot on this game is going to be super satisfying? A shame they don't have in-game leaderboards, though...
Also, no, this doesn't mean that I've quit MKW or something silly like that. CTR was one of my childhood games and this remake is making me happy inside :P

Oh, well, there's an option in CTGP for saving the game to the SD card. If you toggle that setting, you can select between using the Wii's internal save, and an external one on the SD, which will open up another 4 licenses. Alternatively, if using that toggle is not an option, since the SD save is indeed on the SD card, it can be moved/backed up/etc and therefore you can have an unlimited number of licenses as long as you manage the files properly. (SD save files end up inside the 'riivolution' folder of the SD, so just move that folder around or rename it when you want to swap saves over. You can also back it up on a computer, which is a sensible thing to do anyways).

About five years ago at least, you and I raced one v one on MKWii N64 Mario Raceway (with the big green pipe?) and I was Koopa Troopa on the Bullet Bike. You had stars, mushrooms and shells, and you hacked me to pieces. What you might not have known was that my sister and I raced online deliberately TRYING to be roomed with hackers. This is what makes CTR awesome... The game gives you the temptation to hold onto that USF for as long as possible, this is what makes CTR unique. Welp... There are fire, yellow fire, sacred fire, and ultimate sacred fire... Despite being in USF, it would be great to hit as many turbo pads as possible, no... it doesn't make you go any faster, it just adds up the reserve lmao. I wonder about saffi fire, no one confirmed its presence yet.

Mr Bean, this is an old improved thing that was on the PS1 game called Ultimate Sacred Fire, you can keep it because the game has a hidden reserve bar. Regardless it's nice that you found it by yourself, nothing new though, it's always been there :) There's a guy that recorded himself in Polar Pass keeping the USF for all three laps, absolute madman.

Cause they all are timed perfectly to run out when you land from the jump. There's no time to insert any miniturbos on the ground. And I highly doubt that they thought you'd do it in midair instead. It's not an intuitive move :P

True I can only comment on so much since I don't have new game but played old one extensively. Boosting in mid air was always the method for extending max speed off boost pads. I'm curious if you can do froggy technique in new one? You seem to do it in the corners well can you straightline it and maintain it that way?

While this one specifically hasn’t been documented as far as I’m aware, the actual technique is well known. Blue fire, which is sort of an evolution of tech from CTR, Sacred Fire/Unlimited Sacred Fire.

Hmm I thought USF or Saffi-Fire, was something you would need to slowly build up via the reserve system. There's actually a speed, that's even faster than this, where you have "blue fire" and the Aku Aku or Uka Uka Mask active at the same time. It's especially ironic, given that Crash Nitro Kart was actually the first one to have anti-gravity segments. They probably removed them all because people would think it was ripping off MK8... instead of the other way around.

@@MrBean35000vr My thoughts exactly, although I think it was probably cut for other reasons. For instance, the redesign of Hyper Spaceway is only half as long, not just by removing the second section, but also the part where the players reënter the stadium from a different angle. Combined with the removal of the word "slave" from the CTR intro, among other things, I think they're still trying to attract a younger fanbase and that the removal of antigrav was at least partially because they're trying not to "confuse" younger players. IDK, maybë I'm just reading too much into this because I really like CNK; I'm incredibly impressed by the CTR half of the game. As a final point, WOW MRBEAN REPLIED TO MEEEE!!!!! etc. (seriously though, dude, love your stuff; thanks for all that you do)

Ah, if only this was a glitch. Sadly for you, it's an intended mechanic of the game. Not on this level, perhaps, but even the Oxide ghosts (made by the game devs) use blue fire on certain levels to fly around the whole track. Next time, before you assume something is a glitch, do some research. Also, this is a racing game. We're supposed to go fast. If you want a casual Sunday drive, go get in your car.
