I kinda have a theory that Beenox just decided to introduce all of these characters because most of them are gonna appear in a new Crash Bandicoot game (and it would be awesome!!) That could be a pretty big game and an incredible comeback (not as a remaster but as a completely new game! And Hasty might be a playable character for some avia levels (cause why not haha)

It's really interesting to have a good, in depth look at the context behind Hasty's creation, as I've heard all of this story before, but never to this extent. And I also gotta wonder if Hasty's ever gonna show up in the franchise outside of CTR Nitro Fueled. Hasty has a fun personality and design, and it'd be a shame if he was created and just left to sit on the sidelines after the racing's done and Crash goes back to platforming.

Could you explore King Chicken some? Hes new, has a really hard means of unlocking him compared to most characters, and the game is littered with similar chickens in the background. However when hes introduced both Chic and Stew who are chickens themselves barely acknowledge him in the grand prix intro, and just quietly put a crown on his head for seemingly no reason. Is there any unspoken lore out their to dig for when it comes to this brand new character that just seems like a regular chicken with a crown on his head?

Chickens are something of a running joke in the later Crash games, for instance in Crash Twinsanity certain puzzles require you to scare chickens towards Nitro crates in order to detonate them, and playing co-op mode in Mind Over Mutant allows you to control Aku Aku and throw chickens as a weapon. Crash Tag Team Racing features them most prominently though. It has a number of short joke cutscenes, many of which involve Crash dying in weird ways, and a significant number of which feature chickens. There are also chicken challenges, which require you to run around the platforming areas collecting chickens as fast as possible. Some idle animations involve chickens, and of course they're used as a powerup equivalent to the bowling bomb. CTR Nitro-Fueled also has chickens hidden in the scenery of most (if not all) tracks. I imagine it's simply a reference to all that.

Maybe he's a professional stunt pilot? Or maybe he's like Launchpad McQuack, but in moose form. Whatever the case, he's clearly an aviator with experience piloting a myriad of flying machines, if his patches are accurate indicators. Having Aku Aku as his guardian mask would suggest he's a good guy. Hopefully the next crash game will fill in some gaps, not just for him, but the other characters as well.

Me, I'm just trying to figure out the in-universe origins... Remember, the entire reason these human/animal hybrids came into being was Cortex experimenting in an Australia-like environment. Every such animal, therefore, has fit into that environment, from Koalas to Dingos, Potoroos to Opossums, and of course Bandicoots. A hippo _might_ have fit, but a moose? Now, if no explanation is given, I COULD just say he's from Sonic's or Sly's world (crossed those and many others with Crash for a long time), but I'd rather have something more... official?

Maybe he was created by someone else? Brio is credited as being the one who created the evolvo-ray, maybe he had some side projects? Maybe N.Gin has had a little bit of fun in his spare time behind Cortex's back as well. Or maybe Crash exists in a world filled with evil scientists and mutated critters running amok, not unlike the Sonic world. It's all very fascinating to think about.

Cortex met them for the first time in Crash Tag Team Racing so we know they are not Cortex's creations. If Brio created them, who else has Brio created that Cortex didn't know about? Okay, I guess there are other characters with unknown creators like Viscount. But Von Clutch ticks off enough German stereotypes to be a scientist, even if he doesn't go by Doctor. He probably has an Evolvo-Ray stashed away somewhere in an underground lab beneath the park.

Von Clutch doing this sort of thing makes a lot of sense actually. Pasadena does seem to have a level of loyalty to him that's possibly of familial bonds, and the guy is a massive Crash fanboy (not only does he have all his games, but knows Cortex's middle name was Periwinkle. WE didn't know that fact before CTTR!). Between that and his inherent intellect from building his Motorworld, I could buy him reverse-engineering the Evolvo-Ray out of sheer fan appreciation. However... while that explains the CTTR crowd, I don't think those that came after can be explained similarly. We'd have heard if he was still expanding his theme park, right? And without such expansions, specifically importing a panda or moose doesn't make sense.

Hasty is really a pilot in command and his line "absolute ceiling" when jumping means the maximum density altitude an aircraft can reach under a set of conditions, as determined by its flight envelope according to google search. Hasty can really be a best pilot to the Crash Bandicoot family!

See I just want the game to have TEAM BASED gameplay as it's in the NAME. Crash team racing= no teams Crash Nitro kart = Options for Team Based racing . . . . . The hell CNK don't even say "team in it". You'd figure that game would of been the one with no team based battle or racing in it

Well, its not THAT unique of a history. Mortal Kombat was more or less built on creating new characters from misconceptions and fan rumors. Ermac and Skarlet having almost the exact same path as Hasty. Still, cool of Beenox to tie all of that together.
