"At this unique juncture in history, we can recognize not just the staggering dangers of collapse, but also the incredible possibilities for breakthrough."
Episode 7 of the Rethinking Humanity series by @RethinkX paints a stark picture of the paths diverging up ahead. For the first time in history, we have a choice. If we choose wisely, we can chart a new course to a new Age.
But if we cling to the comfort of the old ways - papering over deepening cracks with band
aids - we could crash down: the old industrial system could disintegrate before the new production system emerges. The other possibility is that we crash up: a new production system emerges within the old organizing system, leading to a dystopia owned and controlled by a tiny number of tech conglomerates, nation states and elites. Both dystopian outcomes would forestall the Age of Freedom. To avert them, we urgently need a new, decentralized way of understanding the world, while distributing power and ownership in societies.
This is the seventh of an eight-part series.
The Rethinking Humanity video series is based on the book, Rethinking Humanity: Five Foundational Sector Disruptions, the Lifecycle of Civilizations, and the Coming Age of Freedom by James Arbib and Tony Seba, published by RethinkX.

Tony is one of the reasons I went all-in on Tesla in 2017. That combined with Peter Thiel's Zero to One explained what's really going on in these scenes. God bless the KZbin era.

I started reading and watching Tony Seba ten years ago and his predictions on where we are going have been so spot on I now think tony is in possession of a time traveling machine

Creative destruction is the last thing authoritarian governments want. Change threatens their grip on power, but as a result the economy stagnates then slowly (or quickly) dies. In a democratic country I can see special interest groups (like the oil and gas industry) slowing but not stopping change.

Video is well prepared and precisely focusing on critical issues on the future of humanity. Would not be done with simple language so that we all can understand? Thanks.

What does "distributed power and ownership" mean exactly?

Have a listen to Charles Hoskinson. He helps explain the idea and how something like Cardano can decentralise control away from the likes of Zuckerberg

I think the power in this case is more literal as well. Distribution energy production and ownership

@@davidshipp623 yes solar panels and storage batteries will give a decentralised and sustainable energy sources. Tony Seba has discussed about Superpower which is the surplus energy that can be created for almost no marginal cost.

In short, locally owned solar, wind, and battery storage. You self generate, store, and then have the ability to sell your power to your neighbors or other buyers using some sort of AI system.

It would be good to know if you are involved with COP26 in anyway. I find it depressing that you only have less than 8K subscribers. It seems to me that leaders need to really see that they need to embrace the new world wholesale and that those that do will thrive.

I think the authors are trying a different way to convey their ideas. The Book, Reinventing Fire (2011), by Amory Lovins, et al, was distributed to federal politicians to get their attention. Don't know that it worked, but the book certainly forecasted what is happening now with energy and transportation. Using You Tube, focusing on individuals in our society, the grass roots, is another approach. It seems that publishing a book isn't what it used to be. Experimenting with other ways to get the word out and stimulate thinking is needed.

@@ThreeNoTrump_100 I agree. it’s a little ironic that a disruptive focused think tank isn’t fully using disruptive forces to get its message out there.

Cardano could be the answer. I think it will be. It is worth listening to Charles Hoskinson's views on this and the benefits that decentralised systems can bring to prevent people like Zuckerberg owning everything

What would be the motivations of big tech conglomerates in owning us all if we are in a post-economic world? Sounds like a movie, not real life. A movie where you say “Wait, but what would be the motivations of big tech conglomerates in owning us all if we are in a post-economic world?“ and your friend would laugh and say “suspension of disbelief”.

Why do we need to be “Humancentric”? Why are we not talking about “Ecocentric”? Our discussions need to be about ecosystems - of which humans are a ‘part’. Flora & Fauna must be elevated to be equal. The current thinking that humans are ‘at the top’ or ‘at the centre’ is a major problem& must change.

These videos are too abstract and high level. I feel like I’m listening to someone metacommenting on their thoughts and ideas instead of actually hearing their thoughts and ideas.
