I live in a Mediterranean climate and I am fond of these plants. Many of them seem difficult to care for as they are sensitive to soil quality and watering. They get too much water in the winter and some suffer from the summer sun. I have no climate control and I grow all my succulents outside (Mainly cacti, Agaves, Aloes, Haworthias, Gasterias and Sansevierias). I'm curious to know how they perform in your country in cities with a similar climate, like Perth and Adelaide.
@johnnyAGardening3 жыл бұрын
They grow well in these climates, the growing medium must be free draining, so in general either grow in containers in a specialist potting mix for succulents or a garden bed that is raised with extra drainage material, such as crushed rock mixed through if the soil. Also some growers grown some succulents under a little cover if the climate is very hot, Perth would be an example. This can also protect from excessive water during wet season. Hope this helps.

Love the videos! It’s a shame that nowhere near me in the states has such a wide selection of beautiful varieties of all sorts of succulents. I love succulents but I find it hard to get my hands on any of the “uncommon” varieties. Although maybe it’s a good thing I don’t have access to his shop because I would probably be broke.

I think James is such an enthusiast that his collection is really good. Hopefully will do a tour of the shop and his collection soon.

@@johnnyAGardening I would love to see that! Love the videos and keep up the excellent work. You are my primary source for succulent growing tips and they have helped me greatly. Much appreciation to both you and James.

Lovely Crassulas! I wish I have an accessible nursery/market near me that sells these. I actually find Crassula quite hard to grow and they take too long to root from where I'm from which is South East Asia. Maybe it's because of the weather. But I'm trying my best to keep some of mine alive. Great collection and video as always!

Hello Sydney, Yes they are ethically sorched and we are well aware of the problems with removing succulents, in fact this is emphasised in the last Succulents Australia Newsletter.
