My yorkie love her crate, it's always open the door and she have her favorite toys and bed. When it's raining she stays in there because she felt safer in there. If you ask me.; I love everything that makes her happy and the crate help in our case.

I've been sure about Crate training; for housebreaking, training, and on to a standard home-base for my dog. The thing about never forcing them in is great but I just got a 7 week old pup and she is an infant more or less.

I have four main rescue dogs but often have additional rescues who need a crate. I have a room that has pallets with blankets, two dog beds, and four crates. In the past I have had new dogs use a crate that one of the other dogs have used, depending on the size of the new rescue. is that ok? The youngest dogs use the crate for sleeping, and sometimes I put Kong’s in the crates and close the doors, so the dogs do not fight over the Kong’s. I guess my primary question is does a crate have to belong to just one dog or can dogs use different crates at different times if other comfy beds and cushions are available?

Hello Dr Becker, thank you for all your advises. Can you help me? I changed my dog's diet to home cooked food almost 3 months ago. He is been shedding a lot for almost 4 weeks. He is a mixed Chihuahua. Is it normal? I'd appreciate your help. Thank you!

My dog was adopted. Got him @ 9 wks old however that shelter got him and his siblings @ just 4 wks old. Obviously too early but IDK background. My dog has always hated the crate and has separation anxiety. We finally gave up on the crate. He does better out yet will chew things if I leave them out. He is now 1.5 yrs old. Frustrating.

As long as a dog is not locked up in a crate all the time because if a fire happens the dog could die!

I've crate trained. I no longer do. I have 5 dogs and they have sack type beds that they sleep in if they want a cozy spot. I also never used playpen or crib for my human son who has grown up just fine. There are better ways than forced confinement unless it's a safety issue.
