I love memoirs from people whose life experiences are completely, utterly different from mine. This might not be up your alley, but I read one called Ranger Confidential, about a woman's experience being a park ranger in a couple of American national parks; and just recently I read Touching the Void, a survival story about a mountain climbing accident - the mental and physical toil described is so vivid and unnerving.

I have no idea why you don't have more subscribers but I really enjoyed this!! I've read about half of these, and now I'm even more excited to read the others you mentioned (Know My Name, Crying in H Mart). I also can't wait to hear what you think of Her Body and Other Parties. I adore Carmen Maria Machado! If you are interested in comics, she wrote The Low, Low Woods also.

Thank you so much!! That means a lot to me. I can't wait to read Her Body and Other Parties! If it's anywhere near as good as The Dream House I will fall in love with it :D

I don't know if any of you are interested in figure skating, but Gracie Gold's memoir was alright. Here if You Need Me by Kate Braestrup is about a widow who becomes a UU search and rescue chaplain. It was touching.

Being older I haven't read any of these memiors. But they do sound very interesting. My current favorite memior is an older release by Louis L'amour titled Education of a Wandering Man. Where he details how he pretty much self educated himself and became the most popular writer of Western novels. I enjoyed this video. -James

That’s amazing! I’ll have to check that out. I have such a soft spot for Westerns.

@cocosbooknook. You should enjoy it. He says he quit school because it was interfering with his education.

Ok so it's not a memoir but The Autobiography of Malcolm X is honestly one of my favorite books of all time. I was soooo intimidated by the amount of pages this book has but it's so good, I sometimes take it off my shelves to re-read certains parts.

Yes! Great suggestion. His writing seems intimidating but it’s very good! I encourage people to fight through the intimidation because it’s incredible.
