I'm finding it hard at the beginning of the year to read just like yourself. I'll start back with the arcana which is an android app that has an amazing set of related romantic stories. Definitely cannot start like how I read last year which was starting with twilight and 50 shades of grey because I was reading this while commuting on my way to work and was laughing out loud. I agree with your saying: read what is entertaining to you.

I believe the narrator of Tress of the Emerald Sea does if not all then most of Brandon sanderson’s audiobooks! I didn’t love the mistborn trilogy but it’s obviously very beloved and I do think Michael Kramer does an excellent job narrating.

I loved nettle and bone as well!! Such fun characters and humor as well. T Kingfisher is such an interesting author to me because everything I’ve read from her has felt very different but still distinctly her. Placing a hold on the Listen for the Lie audiobook and moving When Women Were Dragons to the top of my TBR!! I’m late lol but this was such a fun wrap up!

I was a kindle girly my entire life until I started using the kobo app on my iPad with the markup feature and fell in love with the way kobo allows you to annotate compared to the kindles way. I now own a Kobo Libra Color & haven’t touched my Kindle Oasis except to move it out of my way. lol.

Thank you for reminding me of some classics that I have been meaning to read. It is so easy to get distracted by current literature. I agree with you on the LOTR movies. There is no way for a movie to capture the depth of Tolkien’s world. I am also a fan of Dickens but it takes me a while to get into his style of writing. Great video.

If you go to kepubify and put in your epub, it immediately turns your epub into a kobo epub so you have all the extra options of texts and stuff. It reads better and also formats it for the kobo.

I also just got a Kobo Libra Colour, unfortunately mine had some dead pixels so I’m exchanging it for a replacement. I like it a lot so far, especially how easy it is to sideload and that they don’t push ads and their own store the way kindle does. If you sideload, you need to convert your epub files to kepub (kobo version of epub) for the device to track your stats on that book. Calibre makes this v easy

The only thing holding me back is books. It is so easy to get books on the Kindle from Amazon. I have heard it is difficult and you have to go through some steps to get kindle books onto a Kobo. This is especially true because I am signed up with the unlimited plan (which I love). My current kindle is 10 years old but it still works great. Probably will just keep it for now.
@cocosbooknookАй бұрын
@@TNgirl546 it’s true to switch your books over you’d have to do it a special way (because Amazon keeps stuff proprietary, of course 🙄) but kobo also has an unlimited option. I don’t use it, but I’ve heard it’s pretty good. It’s also super easy to get library books on the kobo, you can do it right from the kobo itself. But if your kindle still works, that’s awesome! It’s lasted awhile :)

i’m asking for one for christmas for very similar reasons to you (especially that bezos comment😂) and have been watching a ton of reviews, i love how concise and clear yours is! i’ve never had an e reader, only briefly used my mom’s kindle way back when they first came out and really didn’t like it then, but the newer ones look so great, especially from kobo! i’ve been looking into one lately as i have severe migraines but love to read, and can’t read physical books much any more & heard e ink is easy on the eyes i did have one question, does it have a textured screen, like a “paper like” screen protector would? i really don’t love that feeling and am curious if i should plan to buy a glass screen protector to cover it or not (i’m aware that could add glare, id mostly be using it in near pitch black settings so it wouldn’t be an issue for me)

My main concern is whether the screen is a bit too faded/low contrast text. Some say it has that issue but when you show it to camera it doesn’t look bad
@cocosbooknook2 ай бұрын
@Penpaper I personally don’t find it to be an issue, especially if the brightness is up. It may seem somewhat faded compared to like a kindle paperwhite, but I don’t really notice it. Also, for me, the lack of ads and the easy side loading are worth a slightly less crisp screen. I hope that helps you with your decision!

That's the refresh, it happens on every e-ink display, including kindle and boox. With the kobo, when you go to reading settings, you can decide how often it refreshes (I chose every four pages read). It doesn't happen as much when you're in a book. If I make a follow up video I'll try to mention or show something about it. It's also never bothered me, but I could see if it bothered others! :)
@Sar1386Ай бұрын
Also the refresh always appears more evident on a camera than it is in person. On camera it makes it look very obvious and highly irritating whereas in person once you start reading/using it you barely notice it.

I have always used PocketBooks. In 2024, I bought an Amazon Paperwhite 11th generation and fell in love with it. And I love it because of the ads. I would never find those great books myself. So, for me, ads are a plus. What I don't like about Kobo Libra is the design of the device and the white color of it.
